"The plumber was outstanding. The Office Manager was incompetent. He stated that an above-ground back-flow valve would cost “somewhere around $250.00. (Which I found to be true from my Google searches). He asked for a photo of my existing valve, which I emailed to him. I emailed him again to confirm he received my email, since I heard nothing from him. In my first conversation with him he said he would call the day before the plumber came out. He never called. When the plumber completed his work he called the office to pin down the price of the new valve. The office manager said it was $480.00 +. I called the office and complained. I spoke with the office manager’s boss who offered to take $50.00 off. The experience was not comfortable and strained our finances. Incompetent office manager."

"I have never dealt with a more unprofessional business. They sent out 2 separate guys, both broke off pieces of equipment in our drain and were not able to retrieve them. We now have 3 pieces of snake in our drain and keep getting bills in the mail. I've called multiple times to try to resolve this only to be called a liar and asked how I want to pay. RotoRooter has made no attempt to fix the situation by removing the equipment from our drain, which will likely cause more problems in the future. This company has a lot of turnover and very minimal training. One of their employees recommended we call EconoRooter because they are more experienced and have better tools to complete the job. That would be my recommendation as well."

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

Normal wear and tear eventually runs these parts down and causes the faucet to drip when you've already shut off your sink. Replacing the cartridge or washer should fix the problem.

To drain a broken toilet, place towels or plastic sheeting around the base in case of splashing or overflowing. Next, shut off the toilet’s water supply, usually via a valve on the wall behind the toilet. Begin flushing the handle to remove as much water as possible from the tank and the bowl. Don’t flush the toilet if it’s clogged, though. From there, use a large sponge to soak up any remaining water and wring it over a bucket.

The toilet tank's height and the toilet's depth should fit comfortably within the bathroom’s current setup. When considering depth, look at the walking space around the toilet to ensure it fits in the bathroom.

Deteriorated seals, O-rings, or gaskets are common culprits behind a leaky sink after you’ve turned off the water—especially if your sink is older than 15 years. Inspect each of these mechanisms in your sink for signs of corrosion or looseness, then replace the worn-out part to fix it. Older sinks may be worth replacing if several of the parts are worn-out.
