"Clara and her crew are top-notch and their rates are more than fair. They were very prompt, very accommodating, and very thorough. And they didn't bat an eye when we had a weird circumstance arise: we hired Okie Dokie Cleaning to clean a house we were moving into. However, there was a mistake made with the transfer of the utilities account from the previous owner to ourselves so the night before the cleaning crew arrived the electricity was cut off. That happened - of course - on a Friday night so we couldn't get it straightened out until Monday. I scrambled and found a generator and when Okie Dokie arrived the next day, they knew they'd be finishing having to run extension cords for lamps, etc. out to this generator. They still got the job done, fairly promptly, with no complaints. When we could see everything the next day, the hardwood floors were stunning. They did a very good job throughout the house. Honestly, there were some drawers and cabinets that weren't cleaned out as we'd expected, but we're not so sure that wasn't due to the extenuating circumstances. All in all, we are very pleased and plan to hire Okie Dokie Cleaning again."

"Amanda is prompt, communicative, and does a great job. She was able to do my move out clean on short notice and observed areas that needed further attention. If I were still going to be in the area, I would hire her for regular cleanings."

"We were not very happy. They did very few windows at the price that was advertised. It wasn't that many windows for that price. They didn't even clean the 10 windows. I wasn't home and my husband didn't know which 10 to assign. He let them get away with washing the mirror in my bathroom. They did an okay job on what they did. They should have washed more windows for that amount of money. They were on time."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

While it’s not completely necessary for them to operate properly, as the occasional rainfall can rinse away dirt and debris, manually cleaning solar panels from time to time can keep them operating more efficiently.

Dirt, debris, pollen, and bird droppings can collect on the surface of the panels. Depending on the amount of solar panels you have, this can add up over time, so set a regular maintenance schedule. Moreover, if you live in a climate with little to no rainfall, more debris can accumulate, causing inefficiencies that would be clear in your electricity bill.

Leaving a significant amount of snow on your roof can be risky. Most roofs are designed to handle about 20 pounds per square foot of snow, but exceeding this limit can lead to a roof collapse. A collapse can cause severe damage to your home and belongings and poses a physical danger to anyone inside. Furthermore, heavy snow accumulation increases the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and water damage to your roof, attic, and interior walls.

Walking on the roof to clean gutters is unsafe and not recommended due to significant safety risks. It is especially dangerous on steep or slippery roofs, or if the roof is wet or covered in leaves, which increases the chance of a fall. In addition to personal injury, walking on the roof can damage shingles, potentially leading to water leaks. Instead of walking on the roof, use a sturdy ladder positioned on a stable surface to access the gutters. Be aware that using a ladder also carries risks, as it can be difficult to maintain balance while performing the work. You can also use ground-based cleaning tools. For safety reasons and to prevent damage to your roof, hiring a professional to clean your gutters is the best and safest option.

Moss grows in dark areas of roofs, including in corners and gutters. If left alone, it can grow under roofing and cause permanent damage. Here’s how to remove moss from metal roofs

  • Soak the moss to soften it

  • Scrub it away with a soft-bristled brush, or pick it off with your hands (be sure to wear gloves)

  • Use a moss remover that’s compatible with metal roofing, following the manufacturer’s directions

  • Remove dead moss and rinse the roof thoroughly

  • Prevent future moss growth by trimming branches, cleaning gutters, and attaching zinc strips to moss-prone areas
