Small jobs welcome

"If you want a contractor who treats your home like his own, refuses to cut corners, and delivers exceptional craftsmanship, hire Chris Milligan with Bur Oak Hardwood Flooring. Chris installed 1,400 SF of luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout our home, including leveling an uneven subfloor, removing tile, and installing new baseboards and trim. His attention to detail was incredible—the flooring flows seamlessly around every corner, and there isn't a single flaw. He even stained our trim twice to ensure a perfect color match. Chris communicated every step of the project, finished ahead of schedule, came in under his estimate, and left our home spotless every day. Our before-and-after photos say it all. We couldn't be happier and recommend Chris without hesitation!"

Customers say: True professional

"The seam where they replaced the carpet is more noticeable than I expected but maybe that is normal. Also, the installer, Tony, did not notice that the replacement carpet piece had a blue mfg mark and had to cut it so that now it has two seams rather than one. The extra seam is behind the bedroom door and not normally noticeable but a true pro would not have made that mistake. The installer had to work with a remnant I had left over from the original installation back in April, 2017."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

No, it isn’t less expensive to install carpet compared to vinyl floors. The cost of installing carpet can range between $3 and $11 per square foot, so it falls just over the cost of installing vinyl flooring, at an average of $3 to $7 per square foot. High-quality carpeting can also range much higher, even up to $20 per square foot.

Vinyl and linoleum are the most affordable flooring for a mobile home. The material costs $3 to $7 per square foot—or half as much as hardwood and slightly less than laminate.

Overall, vinyl isn’t as durable as linoleum, but it performs best in areas with high levels of moisture. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) or luxury flooring tile (LVT) has added durability with just a slightly higher price tag.

Removing laminate flooring is fairly straightforward compared to removing other types of flooring. The planks click and lock into place, so you can pry them loose without much fuss. If you plan to reuse your flooring, you must be careful not to damage the plank or the locking mechanism that keeps it in place. If it’s in good condition, you can reuse it in another room.

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a floor. Cork flooring is certainly softer and more sound-absorbing than hardwood floors, and the two share very similar maintenance routines. That said, for some homeowners, the pristine appearance of hardwood floors may be more appealing, and they may be less prone to scratches and dents than cork flooring. Hardwood flooring also tends to be more expensive than cork flooring.

Carpeting has a few benefits on stairs in addition to being a cost-effective floor covering. It absorbs sound, dampening footsteps. It also provides additional traction, which is especially important if you install linoleum floors, epoxy flooring, or any other floor covering that can become slippery if you’re wearing socks. Therefore, carpets can help prevent slips.
