"Initially they agreed to treat the roof to stop the leaks. We agreed on a price. I waited a week for scheduling, and they called, said they wouldn't treat the roof, roof too unsafe. Instead they wanted to replace boards. That was not the original agreement, so I found someone else to coat my garage roof."

"The previous owners of our house had a large garden on the rear side of our house that we wanted removed & re-graded to match the surrounding slope to reclaim some yard space. It was surrounded by hundreds of very large rocks that were all interlocked with each other, so doing this manually wasn't an option. After getting several estimates we hired E&H to handle the job & glad we did. Steve came out at a time that worked for us, removed all of the rocks, re-graded the entire slope, & hauled away all of the rocks - which wound up being WAY above what was expected (a bunch were buried/etc). The result was an immaculate side yard with literally no damage to any of the surrounding yard (which was right up against our neighbors yard, so I really didn't want to have to apologize to them for messing up their yard). We threw some seed down & now have a nice usable grassy area instead of an unusable mess. A+ work & would highly recommend!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on property size, snowfall frequency, and additional services like de-icing or hauling snow offsite.

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

DIY snow removal is entirely free, except for the cost of a shovel. However, it may not always be the best option for large driveways and areas with heavy snowfall; it’s strenuous work and can take a long time. Other wallet-friendly ways to remove snow include rock salt, hot water, a de-icing agent, or a leaf blower.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.
