After searching around for someone to pressure wash our house and driveway, I eventually went to Angie?s List to find a pressure washing company and saw all the exceptional comments about A&K Power Washing.  They provided an estimate within 24 hours of contacting them and we were grateful for their promptness because it was getting late in the season and we needed the work done right away.  They have just finished cleaning our vinyl siding, concrete driveway, porch, steps, and deck and I can confirm all the comments I read as accurate.  Professional, environmentally conscientious, courteous, responsible: they were all that and more.  The work was above and beyond our expectations.  We are completely satisfied with the results.  Our only wish is that Angie has an A+ rating because we would have gladly given A&K that score (as noted by another customer as well).  Our place looks great.  I would highly recommend this company.  Thanks A&K for a job well done.

"Sanderson's Painting was first contacted to provide a modest remodel on the master bathroom in my family home. The house had been left in disarray by the previous occupants, and some serious work was going to be required to bring the place back into a livable condition. However, I was hesitant to commit to a big renovation unless I had experienced and affordable help. Yet, after witnessing the unbelievable quality of work performed by Sanderson's Painting and the speed at which the project was completed, I immediately contracted them to work for me on an hourly basis.
For the following two months, Mr. Sanderson, the company's founder and owner, was asked to paint the interior and exterior of my home, lay tile flooring in my kitchen, repair broken woodwork on bannisters and built in bookcases, reseal the home's tar roof, install light fixtures, hang ceiling fans, install kitchen/bathroom faucets, power wash and stain the deck and fencing, landscape the front and back yards, lay gravel for a driveway, and more. He arrived on time every day and performed each and every task I laid at his feet with skilled hands, a quickness in his step, and always with a wink and a smile. In short, Mr. Sanderson single-handedly turned a run down and dilapidated old house into a beautiful, vibrant, and truly spectacular home for my family.
I recommend Sanderson's painting for their hard work, their integrity, their affordability, and they superior quality of work. My family is FOREVER grateful for the efforts of Mr. Sanderson, and though his personal motto is that "a jack of all trades is a master of none", he is truly masterful in everything he does. His honesty, dedication to the job and to his client, and his unfaltering kindness are impossible to find in his competitors. I welcome you to drive past my house any day of the week and take a look. What you will see before you is a miracle of quality and craftsmanship attributable solely to Sanderson's Painting."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
