The way it went overall indicated that Hoover had cut back operating costs by laying off many, many employees, hence leaving no one to tend the "shoppe".
Description of Work: I was trying to get information with which to download an Operator's Manual for a "Hoover Steam Vac Widepath LS". I went to their recommended website, www.hoover.com, and typed into their search engine my model # F-6024900 and the serial number 050000064029. Their engine responded that they could not MATCH my data! Okay. I then tried to phone Hoover's customer service. No one answered, but a machine voice told me that I could leave my 10-digit phone number and my call would be answered in order, and I would not lose my place in line. It was now 5 PM, EST. Having not received a returned call in one hour, I tried phoning again. Receiving the same message, left my message, and by their closing time of 7 PM, EST, no one had returned my call. I tried to establish a live "chat" on line. Having typed my entire message, I discovered that there was no "send" button on the website, not a "send" button to click, or any other such message. Trying to contact them, they seemed to be dedicated to NOT hearing from anyone, and going home on time. The website was completely devoid of anything like customer assistance, and had NO consideration for any consumer trying to reach them.

Extremely poor customer service!
Description of Work: Owned carpet cleaner for approx 6 weeks. Suctin unit for hose does not work. Customer service was indifferent to my issue and did not resolve the problem.

When they sent the replacement vacuum cleaner she said it would be comparable to the model that I had. The model that I had cost more because it had a feature on it that detects the dirt in your carpet. The one they sent me is comparable, but doesn?t have that feature. I called them today, August 14, 2009 asking why they sent this model. I talked to a different person, John and he was not very nice. He couldn?t give me a reason as to why they sent me one that wasn?t exactly what I had. I?m happy I got the replacement, but I?m not really thrilled with the actual vacuum cleaner I was sent. I won?t use their products anymore because they keep breaking down and they don?t replace them with the right models.
Description of Work: I have two separate vacuum cleaners. Both of them broke down within eight months with different problems. The second broke down in June and I called them July 31. The motor had burned up. They were really good about telling me they would send me another vacuum to replace it. I was really happy about that. Their response was great. I received a vacuum cleaner within four days. I spoke with Becky the first time and she was great.

The service rep was extremely courteous, friendly and helpful and since I had a two year old in tow, he also helped load a new vacuum into my car. I had brought in a vacuum cleaner to get a switch repaired. His attitude helped me decide to purchase my new vac from him and without him even making a sales pitch. I was on my way to shop elsewhere for a new one after I dropped off my old one for repair. He was unaware that I intended to purchase a new vac, so that didn't figure into his attitude. He told me that I could have my old vac back as soon as two days, so I really didn't need to purchase another, but I did anyway. I was even more happy that the old vac was repaired and ready to pick up the next day! He is a warm, people person. He actually shared a little about his family probably because I had my baby granddaughter with me and he spoke highly of his own baby and family. He also didn't have a problem with her running around. When I picked up my repaired vac, he received an incoming customer call and he handled that in a very responsible and courteous way by taking some info and telling the person he would get right back to him. My baby was getting a little anxious and acting a bit fussy, so he hurried up with ringing me out and then he carried out the vac, got it into the car and also helped retrieve one of the baby's toys that dropped under the car. That kind of service is hard to find these days. The repair service was only $30.00. This man was genuine in his courteous manner because his behavior was the same before he knew I would be making a new vac purchase.
Description of Work: I dropped off a fairly new Hoover vac to get the on/off switch repaired. It had been sparking and I was afraid it would start a fire. It only was a little past warranty and I didn't want to replace it because of a faulty switch, as it otherwise works beautifully.
