Small jobs welcome

"What an excellent experience! Tim did a big job for us: a 2-story foyer, with curved walls. They were very attentive to preventing mess and cleaning up each day. The paper is beautiful! I would never hire anyone else for a wallpaper job after using Tim and his crew."

"The job was done very well. I had several cracks in my dining room ceiling and kitchen walls that needed to be repaired. He fixed them and I cannot tell where they were originally. The crew was very professional and courteous. Made several suggestions on paint color. Pleasure to work with everyone."

"Andrea wall papered an accent wall for us in our home. The wall had some odd angles too. She is a master at her craft! She is also very reasonably priced and communicates quickly with information about the job we had completed. We highly recommend Andrea!"

"Results were as well as could be expected, given the difficulty of the job. Post removal repairs to underlying drywall were minor and were not a result of anything Tammy could have avoided in the removal process (original construction contractor did not properly primer coat the drywall before applying the wallpaper). Tammy cleaned up everything each day (two day job) and left no mess whatsoever."

"Minka Painting is an excellent and professional company and provided exceptional services and pricing. Mauro, the owner always communicated with us whenever we had questions and provided painting services according to contract. He & his workers did an excellent job in power washing and scraping our home, which was in bad shape. However, it was the parts of the job that was went above and beyond the scope of our contract that really impressed us. Part of the sideboard to the roof had come apart, which they fixed no charge. There were areas under our porch we hadn't included, they made sure were painted. They cleaned our yard and our neighbor's yard before completing the job. They even replaced missing bulbs in our flood light. They applied 2 coats of topcoat as contracted, when we pointed out a couple areas we thought could use more paint they re-applied more paint. Whenever Mauro was unavailable, his brother, Carlos was on sight to make sure everything ran smoothly or talk to us about the job. The before and after pictures speak for themselves. We would definitely recommend Minka Painting to anyone looking for a professional and trustworthy company."

"Power Pro Painting and Justin were very professional and gave outstanding service from beginning to end. They were on the job when they said they would be and went above and beyond to make sure I was highly satisfied. Justin pays attention to all details and is very thorough. They removed wallpaper, painted my kitchen walls and cabinets and did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend them."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

You should be aware of the current wallpaper and interior trends before hanging it, especially if you are planning on selling or listing your home soon. Do people in your market tend to prefer bold designs and accent walls, or does having a simpler print all over seem like a better idea? Lastly, you want something that appeals to your aesthetic preferences; hanging wallpaper is an investment of your time and money after all.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

You shouldn’t need extra adhesive for peel-and-stick backsplash tile. The adhesive on the back of the tile sheets should do the trick. However, if you experience issues with the tile peeling or falling off, make sure the wall you’re working on isn’t textured, as that can prevent the materials from properly adhering.
