Phantom Pools opened my pool, and made several repairs to it. I was not satisfied with the timeliness and quality of the work. The workers seemed to be young, seasonal workers, with limited knowledge and experience. I fired them after the following incident: * I purchased a new Polaris (a machine used to clean the bottom of the pool). * Apparently, it was improperly installed because it became disconnected shortly thereafter. * I reported this to Mike, supervisor of the service department, who sent out a technician to repair the Polaris. * That evening, I saw that my Polaris was disassembled, and sitting on the side of the pool (instead of sweeping the bottom of the pool. * I reported this to Mike, who took several days to send re-send a technician to my home. * I asked the technician why he failed to repair the Polaris and return it to pool. * He responded that "...it was broken and he needed to order a part to repair it". * After asking him a series of questions, he finally admitted that he never even examined my newly purchased Polaris. He stated that he did not know how to re-assemble the Polaris, and just left it outside of the pool. * This technician ultimately apologized for lying to me about having to order a new part, and leaving the Polaris disassembled on my pool deck for over a week. He apologized for lying that it was broken, when he knew it was not. * I reported this event to Mike, who said absolutely nothing when I told him what happened. I finally asked what he was going to do about it, and Mike said that he would "speak to him" about it. Phantom Pools worked for us approximately 6 weeks. During that time, we purchased many "parts" and "repairs" that I am not sure we ever even needed. I would NEVER use Phantom Pool again, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND PHANTOM POOLS TO ANYONE. I paid several thousand dollars on service and repairs with Phantom Pools. I was charged $800 for the Polaris. *
Response from Phantom Pools
"As you can see, we have not had anything less than A reviews for 2 straight years prior to this claim. Our 13 weeks of services began by the homeowner hiring us to repair and replace a broken Pump, Heater and Salt system. All of the homeowners equipment was in very poor condition and improperly maintained, due to negligence. They held us at fault for everything that did not work and they were very immature in dealing with their pool problems; imposing extremely demanding timeframes, being months late to pay invoices and they complained about price even though we provided a full quote prior to each product, repair or service. They physically broke their Polaris Cleaner, there is no installation involved as they come pre-assembled. They have tried to take advantage of a locally run company and bully our seasonal cleaning technicians. I would recommend that other contractors to avoid working with this homeowner, very difficult and unreasonable."

Phantom Pools provided outstanding service each of the three times I used them.  They were always on time: something I really appreciated.  There were no surprises in terms of the bill.  Phantom has a user-friendly computerized interface that its customers can use to request service.  This has worked out very nicely.  I received a confirmation of my service request, a reminder when the service would be performed, and a subsequent write-up describing the repair or services provided.  I paid by credit card using their site. They also have real people you can speak with.  Phantom winterized my pool and replaced a pump.  Service chief, Mike,  went to bat for me with pump manufacturer to replace a pump that was at the end of its warranty.

Last week they helped me repair a water line. Previously, they have repaired my pool heater. They are responsive, on time, and are knowledgeable. The responsiveness should be an A+! If they don't know the answer or know how to fix something, they are proactive about finding the right information. They might change my appointment, but they will always notify me, rather than no-call/no-showing my appointment. They appear and behave professionally. When I put my house up for sale, I will recommend this company to the new home buyers as someone to call in the future.

In opening the pool, Mike and Team worked with myselt and a third party
electrician to address electrical issues.  When electrician charged what
seemed double what should have been, Phantom Pools stood behind me and
was even willing to engage a conversation on my behalf corroborating
what should have been a fair charge.  The electrician vendor ultimately
agreed... so thankful.  Once the pool was opened, they have consistently
done great work.  This is the first time in 17 years that I've used a
pool service and it has been an excellent experience.  Would highly recommend.

I purchased a Hayward heater less than 1 year ago and it developed a serious leak a few weeks after opening the pool this year.  I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a list of authorized repair companies.  I contacted several and received the same answer from the first 2, which was "we can't even schedule an appointment at this time, because we are busy with pool openings".  I contacted Phantom Pools and they took all of my details over the phone and said someone would contact me shortly.  The next day I received an email from the owner, Mike Leone with a few additional questions.  I sent him the answers, as well as some detailed pictures and he immediately ordered the correct part and told me how long it would take to receive.  He then scheduled a service date.  Unfortunately, one of his service techs was out sick for several days and he could not keep that date and needed to reschedule for 2 days later.  He notified me in plenty of time and we rescheduled.  Their communication is excellent.  He arrived exactly when he said he would and conducted the repair professionally and neatly.  I asked Mike to check my filter for a possible sand replacement, which he quoted me an approximate $200 for over the phone.  It would have been easy for him to just do it, but instead, he checked and said I had at least 1 more season out of my current sand.

I highly recommend Phantom Pools.

I usually never do reviews but these guys are have some poor tactics without their customer in mind. They give you interim services noticed without costs until the end of the pool opening. Shocking price at end. Tried to reason with them but they took a hard line and were unapologetic. Had to switch.
Response from Phantom Pools
"Prior to starting service we sent a signup packet which clearly listed all of our prices. We were asked to come back to the pool by the pool owner for an additional service call before our next scheduled visit. The pools water chemistry was substantially out of balance with pH levels below 7.0, calcium below 100 ppm and alkalinity below 50. The customer asked us to have his pool swim ready as soon as possible and that is what we did. But, the customer did not want to pay for our additional service call he requested and refused to pay his bill on time. We normally can negotiate with customer but in this case they wanted everything for free including the chemicals. If you read our other reviews, you can see that we provide excellent value to our customers for the good work we provide."

We've been using weekly swimming pool cleaning service for years and this past year we hired Phantom Pools, let me say, it was one of the best decision we made last summer. Phantom Pools service pricing was very affordable and their billing system was simple. They always cleaned our pool when we wanted it done (just before the weekend), and there workers were very friendly, professional and helpful. We felt like they're business revolved around us, unlike some of the other bigger companies we've used in the past.
During the summer they were always in great contact with us. If it was a stormy day they would notify us of when the rescheduled service would be, I never questioned or worried when they would come. The service they provided was excellent, they were thorough, courteous and fast. The pool looked great when they left and stayed clear all summer.
As for pricing, I signed up for the weekly service so my pool opening was 50% off. Between the savings and their competitive chemical prices, I felt I received an excellent value for my money all summer.
I'd highly recommend Phantom Pools if you are looking for hassle free service at a great price.
