We couldn't be happier with the service provided. First, pricing information was provided up-front, right at the start, during the initial phone contact and that was the price charged. Second, service was provided on very short notice. Third, at our request Don out a second time (at a much reduced rate) after the ceiling was opened to determine with absolute certainty whether the walls in question could be removed without resort to headers. Fourth, he freely answered any questions posed. I joined Angie's List specifically to find a structural engineer and would recommend Don Liszkay without reservation.

He was at my home for about and hour taking measurements, performing a very thorough examination and talking me through his recommendation. I was happy that he was thoughtful about what was really needed and conservative in making the recommendation, including giving me an idea of what I should pay for the work. He made suggestions for steps I could take with the ground on the outside of the house to improve drainage and keep the wall dry without excavation or weep holes, etc. He also pointed out a couple of rotting floor boards that will need to be replaced eventually. He will e-mail his written report with drawings.

We have used them twice now once in June and once in August. They were very thorough and had a comprehensive inspection. The first time it saved us from going through with a home purchasethat had serious foundation issues. Now, we are following through with the purchase of the home they inspected in August. I highly recommend Criterium.

He arrived 10 min late but called and let me know. He gave good advise on what I may need to do later on down the road he also looked over a few other things why he was here. The guy was down to earth and worth every dollar.

They were extremely responsive, I called and had a very immediate need. To complete my home inspection I had to have a structural engineer do an evaluation for me and they were able to find someone to come that same day and he was very courteous, friendly, responsive and very thorough.

Great! started with the excellent staff who set the appointment-I had to change a couple times & they were kind & happy to accommodate the changes. Don was very thorough. I needed a survey done quickly to a wall in my basement to sell my house. They went out of their way to get it done for me at a reasonable price. The inspector that originally looked at the house said my house had a wall in the basement that was bowing. I was shocked and was not looking forward to the bill of having to fix it if that was the case. I called them and they made a special effort to come to my house and review the situation. They looked at the wall and was able to clearly say it was not a problem. I was so relieved.

Criterium Liszkay Engineers did a good. He was thorough about everything inside and out. We had used him before for 2 other inspections in the past. He is very professional and he is careful to give us information without being biased about the home. He gives the information and he says you weigh the risk. He cannot tell the consumer what the risk should be so he is very professional and lets us make the decision as to whether we want to deal with the risks that are there or not.

It went well. He was on time, thorough, and explained specific items as the inspection progressed. The inspection notes were slightly better/more detailed than the actual typed report.

They were easy to work with, did good work, and provided great information and suggestions!

The inspector was prompt and professional. I was present at the inspection and he seemed to know what he was doing. My only issue was with the report. While it had several pages and had a lot of details there were no pictures and it was not very well organized. There was criteria at the beginning of the report that was defined - immediate concern, within the first year etc. - that were then not used in the report itself. They were more expensive than some of the other places that I priced and I had expected more.

Excellent service! After purchasing our home and discovering extensive water damage in the basement, I was referred to Don by a trusted friend, who is also an engineer. He spoke very highly of Don's expertise. Don's report included sketches of how the existing I-Beams needed to be repaired to bring them up to code (we learned they were installed improperly) and what other structural supports were needed to keep our foundation secure after years of water and tree root damage. His report was essential for us getting the necessary city permits to hire a company to come in and do the I-Beam installation and repair work. While Don's hourly rate is not cheap, he is extremely professional, responsive by phone and email and thorough in his work. We would highly recommend him!

We had a home we eventually purchased inspected for structural issues due to some visible cracks in the foundation and the age of the home. The engineer was very helpful and provided education on several items of question in the home. Additionally, a portion of the attic was separated by a window left over from an addition and the home inspector had not been able to inspect the area behind the window. We recieved permission to break/remove the window before the structural inspection and the engineer inspected the remaining attic area even though it was not part of our original request.

This was a complete waste of my money! I wanted to have a structural engineer do my home inspection because there was some sloping in the floor of the great room. I chose this company because the president came and spoke to my home buyer education class and my Realtor also recommended him. I talked with him over the phone prior to scheduling the inspection because I wanted to make sure he knew what my concerns were and to make sure he would be the right person to address them. When he arrived we discussed the issue with the floor again before entering the house and starting the inspection. After about 2 hours the inspection was nearly completed and all that was left was for him to inspect the crawl space. I kindly reminded him that he'd never addressed the floor issue and that he might want to take a look at it from the top so he'd know where about to look under the floor in the crawl space. He hastily inspected the floor and commented that there was sloping but he doubted he'd find anything. He went into the crawl space came out and said he didn't see anything structurally wrong with the floor. That's all well and good but the floor is still sloped. When asked HOW the floor could be corrected he responded by saying it's not worth it. That was totally not the correct answer to the question that I asked. When I received a copy of his notes he did not even mention the floor which is ironic because that was the entire reason I called him in the first place. I called him and asked him to please give a professional opinion about the floor in the report. He just put that there was some sloping in the floor, case closed. No remedy or anything. My Realtor got involved and also questioned him about possible remedies. She included an example of a similar situation that she'd had with her house and explained how her issue was fixed. Again he commented that it would be expensive to repair and that her remedy is one possible solution. Needless to say I did not buy the house because this inspector gave me absolutely no information to take back to the seller to request a remedy or to fix the floor problem on my own. Furthermore practically every question I asked was met with an uneasy reluctant answer. Usually something along the lines of well it's hard to say..., uhhhm I don't really know if I'd say ..., I don't really want to say...In my humble opinion this was a complete and total rip off.

He came out and did a good job. I was happy with the price he charged and he was very pleasent to deal with.

The inspector did a thorough job and was very experienced in old homes. I walked with the inspector through the home. I was given a check list on the same day and was e-mailed a full report the next day. This is a job I don't try to save money on. I researched all of the accredited home inspection providers thoroughly. I wanted the best, and I got it.

They were very thorough. They are helpful to the owners of property by doing a thorough report. There was severe damage to the basement and another inspector gave an unsatisfactory report so the property value couldn't be assessed. That is why we had a second one done by Criterium Liszkay.

We were very satisfied. Art Wittenhouse, the engineer, was very thorough and explained everything before he got started and throughout the inspection. In fact, the inspection took several hours and he very patiently explained everything as I tagged along asking endless questions! The price may seem high but considering the job was actually like doing four inspections, it seemed appropriate.

Totally waste of my money. I had to hire two other inspectors because they would not back up and substantiate their own findings. Turns out, they grossly UNDERESTIMATED the damage. They were so afraid to say anything negative they found in writing and it turns out that what they thought was a bad problem was, in fact, a major problem that would have required 20K to fix.

Nick Sung met me at the house, on-time for the inspection. Nick spent over 4 hours going through the house, quickly, but very thoroughly. He tested all of the appliances, plumbing fixtures, wall switches and outlets. He checked every door to see if it closed properly. He continually explained what he was looking at and what types of problems he was looking for. His inspection included all of the big items (foundation, roof, appliances, etc.) as well as the small items (all faucets, switches, door handles, etc.). When problems were discovered, he made certain to show me what he had found, explained why it was a problem, and when appropriate, discussed what repairs might involve. The field inspection notes were very thorough and well organized. The home inspection report was completed promptly and was also very thorough and well organized. I found the prioritization of repairs and maintenance within the report to be particularly useful. No horror story here. I was very satisfied.
