We ended up having the work done. The actual work appears to be excellent from the pictures taken with our digital camera. We also requested to have the chimney's capped to prevent bats from going down our chimney. The chimney's are very large in size. Overall we are pleased with the work.
Description of Work: The first estimate we received was $1800 to have the repairs done. The representative gave us this estimate after actually going onto the roof. We scheduled the work to be done but when the repairmen came they told us that the chimney should actually be rebuilt due to the loss of tuckpointing in addition to the work that we were initially quoted. The representative came out immediately and apologized for the oversight.

I called Able roofing on a Monday and was transferred to 3 different people. The last person took my name and number and said that someone would call to schedule. It's been 7 days and I have not heard from anyone at Able. I feel this company could care less about a small repair, which is too bad because I will be needing to replace my whole roof in less than a year and you can be sure I won't be calling Able.
Description of Work: Wanted to have someone come out and replace a shingle that had blown off during high winds.

They arrived on time, left on time and completed on budget.
Description of Work: I wanted to insulate the roof and have a new roof installed. I wanted to preserve the look of the wooden ceiling inside. They came up with a solution that put 3'' of foam under a rubber membrane. That is held down by suction created by vents in the corners of the roof.

Gregg, the sales rep, was punctual, arrived on time, and provided us with a very competitive estimate of a complete roofing job. Will probably select to have roof replaced. Don't forget the dinner certificate - $15 - offered free with any roofing price quote. Extremely professional.

Great. I appreciate their super customer service.
Description of Work: My stone chimney requires annual waterproofing. Able does this for me every year and is super responsible, honest, and helpful about the job. They monitor how porous the stone is and how much waterproofing it needs because they are so familiar with my particular chimney.

Called Able to ask for a quote to replace existing roof. An appointment time was set for 5:00 PM so that I could be present for the quote review. When I arrived home, my wife informed me that the Able representative had already come and gone. He sat at our table, and worked up the quote, handed to my wife and left. He did not wait for me to review his price. When I looked at the quote, he had priced a 3 tab shingle, rather than an architectural style as I had asked. His indifference to earn my business left a bad taste in my mouth. The company I did go with was more expensive, but they met with me and explained everything clearly.

I ASKED OUR SCHEDULING MANAGER TO PULL THE ESTIMATE AND TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER. OUR ESTIMATOR WAS RUNNING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE THAT DAY AND DID INDEED SHOW UP EARLY FOR THE APPOINTMENT, MEETING INSTEAD WITH THE WIFE. AFTER INSPECTING THE ROOF, HE DID HAND WRITE AN EXTENSIVE AND DETAILED ESTIMATE INCLUDING AN UPGRADE OPTION FOR A DIMENSIONAL SHINGLE. IN ADDITION, HE LEFT HIS BUSINESS CARD AND PERSONAL CELL PHONE NUMBER WITH THE ESTIMATE HE PRESENTED TO THE WIFE SO HER HUSBAND COULD CONTACT HIM WITH QUESTIONS. HE DID NOT CALL. Individual from the masonry department came to my home to give an estimate for a fireplace installation. After missing the first scheduled appointment, he rescheduled and came and looked things over and took some notes. He told me he would have a quote to me in 2 days. After a week passed and I never heard from him, I called him and told him I was not happy that I had not heard from him. Instead of apologizing, and made excuses and cussed me. I will never use Able Roofing for anything, ever!

THIS IS A VERY UNFORTUNATE AND UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION FOR OUR COMPANY, BUT WE WANT TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT. OUR SALESPERSON DID MEET WITH THE CUSTOMER AND TOLD HIM HE WOULD HAVE A QUOTE ON A PARTICULAR DAY. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR SALESPERSON TOOK ILL FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WHEN HE CAME BACK TO WORK, THE CUSTOMER HAD LEFT A MESSAGE FULL OF EXTREME OBSCENITIES BECAUSE HE DID NOT RECEIVE THE BID IN THE TIME EXPECTED. OUR SALESPERSON CALLED THE CUSTOMER AND LEFT A VOICEMAIL THAT HE WAS OUT SICK. HE ALSO COMMENTED IN HIS VOICEMAIL THAT HE DIDN’T FEEL IT WAS NECESSARY FOR THE CUSTOMER TO USE OBSCENITIES. THE CUSTOMER RESPONDED IN ANOTHER VOICEMAIL FOR OUR SALESPERSON WITH EVEN WORSE OBSCENITIES. OUR SALESPERSON WAS SO TAKEN BACK AND UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE VOICEMAILS FROM THE CUSTOMER THAT HE ASKED ONE OF OUR VICE PRESIDENTS TO LISTEN TO THEM. BOTH AGREED THE VOICEMAILS WERE SOMEWHAT THREATENING. AT NO TIME DID OUR SALESPERSON CUSS AT THE CUSTOMER AND WE TRULY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS SO UPSET. When they were done my family room started leaking. They started later than what they said they were going to start. Before I paid the rest of there money it started leaking. My ceiling has damage to it. Finally last month they called me said that in lieu of paying me the rest of the money that I owed, to use that money to fix the roof.

WE WERE CALLED TO THE CUSTOMER’S HOUSE TO REPAIR AN EXISTING LEAK. THE SALES REP THAT DIAGNOSED THE LEAK GAVE A BID TO REPLACE THE FLASHING AROUND THE CHIMNEY AND DO SOME TUCK POINT WORK ON THE BRICK. IN FACT WE WERE TOLD THAT HER INSURANCE COMPANY REQUIRED THEM TO MAKE THE REPAIR TO THE CHIMNEY. WHEN THE ROOF CREW REMOVED THE SHINGLES FROM AROUND THE CHIMNEY, WE HAD SEEN WHERE THE CHIMNEY STRUCTURE HAD PULLED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND HAIRLINE FRACTURES DEVELOPED THRU THE BRICK. THESE "FRACTURES" ENDED UP BEING THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. WE SENT CREWS OUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AT OUR EXPENSE, TO TRY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AREAS, BUT THE CHIMNEY CONTINUED TO HAVE LEAKS. OUR ONLY OPTION FOR A PERMANENT REPAIR WAS TO TEAR DOWN THE CHIMNEY AND REBUILD IT PROPERLY. WE OFFERED TO CREDIT THE AMOUNT OF THE REPAIR WITH THE NEW CONTRACT, BUT THE CUSTOMER DECLINED. THE INTERIOR DAMAGE WAS FROM THE ORIGINAL LEAK, YET WE WAIVED THE BALANCE DUE IN ORDER TO TRY TO SATISFY THE CUSTOMER. THIS WAS A CASE OF THE CUSTOMER HAVING STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS, US TRYING TO WORK THRU THE PROBLEM, BUT HAVING THE CUSTOMER UNWILLING TO SPEND THE NEEDED MONEY TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. THE WORK WE PERFORMED IN NO WAY COULD HAVE CAUSED ADDITIONAL LEAKS, AND WE FEEL THAT WE MADE EVERY REASONABLE EFFORT TO HELP RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. SINCERELY, DAVE TUTTLE, VICE PRESIDENT PRODUCTION

Alex came out and gave an estimate to repair a roof leak in our bathroom coming down through the vent in the ceiling. He was friendly and professional. The estimate seemed reasonable. They did come out and "repaired" the roof in a timely manner, but unfortunately the roof continued to leak. I called them out again, and they came out and reevaluated the leak, and then charged again for the repair. I did get a discount of $100 due to the problem of the first repair. I asked why I had to pay at all since the problem was not fixed on the first repair, and I was told that they did do a few things to the roof the first time, that needed to be done. So far the roof has not leaked, and they did the second repair about 1 month ago. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with the resolution of the problem, though I am not sure that I would have them do work again, and think that I should not have had to pay at all the second time, or at least credited me the full amount of the first repair which was $25

THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE OUT IN A WEEK AND IT TOOK THEM 3 WEEKS TO COME. I JUST HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND THERE THEY WERE!!! I DID NOT LIKE THE ADVERTISING SIGN IN THE FRONT YARD AND HAD THEM TAKE IT DOWN. THE WORK THAT THEY DID WAS EXCELLENT AND THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL. I FELT THE PRICE WAS A BIT EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT WAS DONE.

THE FIRST JOB THAT WAS DONE WELL AND THE GUTTERS WERE BEAUTIFUL, HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT SEAL BEHIND THE GUTTERS WHICH JUST MADE THE WATER RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF IN THE GUTTERS. Last summer Able replaced our roof. They were extremely efficient, did a great job on taking off the old roof and cleaning up after installing the new roof--we never even found any nails in our yard. After a wind storm, we noticed that a small piece had come loose over our bay window and needed to be fixed. My husband called and talked to Carmen. She was very helpful and someone came out to fix the roof over our bay window in a very few days. I certainly would recommend Able to anyone who asked, both for the original job and the follow-up on a small problem.
Description of Work: Last summer Able replaced our roof and did a great job at a fair price. This was for a repair of a small problem connected with that repair.

THEY CAME OUT, FOUND PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 3 WEEKS TO COME OUT AND FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THEY CAME OUT RIGHT WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY DID A GOOD JOB. PRICE WAS REASONABLE. THE GENTLEMAN WAS PERSONABLE, EASY TO TALK TO AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME.

THEY WERE VERY FAST. THEY HAD THE JOB DONE IN ABOUT 3 DAYS AND WE HAVE A VERY LARGE ROOF. THEY WERE GREAT AT CLEANING UP. THE SUPERVISOR WAS ALWAYS IN CONTACT WITH ME SO THAT WAS GOOD.

A MAJOR MISTAKE THAT WAS DONE WAS WHEN WE WERE GIVEN AN ESTIMATE. I GAVE THEM $500.00 CASH AND PUT THE BALANCE OF THE 50% ON MY CHARGE CARD. TWO WEEKS LATER MY HUSBAND CALLED AS THE WINDOWS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN BY NOW. HE WAS TOLD THE ORDER WAS NEVER PLACED?! I CALLED THE SALESMAN AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON HIS CELL PHONE ASKING HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE DIDN'T CALL BACK, BUT JUST SHOWED UP! HE SAID THE PRODUCT HAS GONE UP IN PRICE AND IT WOULD BE "AN ADDITIONAL COST" OF $859.00. OUR QUESTION WAS, "WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL US?" THEN HE BROUGHT IN A LESSER QUALITY WINDOW TO SHOW US AND IT DIDN'T EVEN WORK PROPERLY. MY HUSBAND AND THE SALESMAN GOT INTO A HEATED DISCUSSION. I INTERRUPTED AND SAID, "THIS IS WHAT I WANT. I WANT YOU TO ORDER AND HONOR THE ORIGINAL QUOTE THAT WAS GIVEN TO US AND HAVE ABLE ROOFING EAT THE ADDITIONAL COST." I SAID, "SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND IT WASN'T ME." WAS TOLD THIS COULDN'T BE DONE. I ALSO SUBMITTED A LETTER TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU
Description of Work: HAVE USED THIS COMPANY IN THE PAST, BUT WILL NOT IN THE FUTURE. EMPLOYEES, ETC. HAVE CHANGED OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS AND IN MY OPINION HAVE GONE DOWNHILL. CALLS WEREN'T RETURNED, SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS WEREN'T KEPT, AND THE PROFESSIONALISM ISN'T THERE ANYMORE.

UNFORTUNATELY, OUR SALESMAN WAS GIVEN BAD PRICING WHEN HE WAS PREPARING HIS QUOTE FOR THE CUSTOMER. HE DID NOT REALIZE THE PRICING ERROR UNTIL AFTER IT WAS SUBMITTED TO THE CUSTOMER. THE ERROR WAS FOUND WHEN WE TRIED TO ORDER THE WINDOWS FROM OUR SUPPLIER. IT WAS TRULY AN HONEST MISTAKE. OUR SALESMAN AND HIS SUPERVISOR APOLOGIZED PROFUSELY AND TRIED TO MAKE IT RIGHT BUT THE CUSTOMER WAS NOT RECEPTIVE. AS A GESTURE OF GOOD FAITH, WE PAID TO HAVE ONE OF THE WINDOWS WE INSTALLED PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT HONOR ITS WARRANTY. WE ALSO FOUND OUT OUR SUPPLIER STOPPED DOING BUSINESS WITH THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR “MANUFACTURER” WARRANTIES. WE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED TWO PRIOR JOBS FOR THIS CUSTOMER.
