Able Roofing

The roofing crew arrived at about 10:30 am. I had called Able a short time previously, worried because it was so late. When I did roofing 30 years ago we tried to start as soon after sunup as possible. The crew went to work quickly and had the job done by midafternoon. They were polite and professional throughout. I asked the estimator and work crew when they arrived, to please be diligent in picking up all the discarded nails in the yard. I was concerned about the young man who mows my lawn being injured. In the few weeks after the roof was replaced, I found about a dozen nails in the grass--by eyesight. They used a magnet to pick them up. I also found about 6 nails in my driveway. Overall, I think Able did a good job. I was informed after the fact why the crew arrived when they did, but I think I should have been informed of this beforehand. The only other thing I can fault them with is not finding all the dropped nails. I had originally planned to use another contractor that had done some repair work for me previously. Their reputation and Able's on Angie's List is about the same. The deciding factor here was price; the quality of work Able did was excellent, I just wish they'd spent a little more time picking up discarded nails.

The price was told by the insurance company to be too much, so they lowered there price.

Very professional from start to finish. Clean-up after the job was very good. Roofing is a mess, and Able did a great job....many individuals to tear off the old roof, re-structure the ventilation, replace the roofing shingles, and do the clean-up. Very impressive crew worked tirelessly to do the job accurately in one day.

They came out at 9 o'clock in the morning and took the entire roof off. They put brand new plywood, new fillament and top of the line shingles on. They were done at 6:30 pm. They were very hard working. They were outstanding! I had patio furniture covered and they covered everything again. They used magnets to pick up any loose nails. They were well supervised and a supervisor came out to make sure everything was picked up and that I was satisfied. They came a couple times to make sure I was satisfied. I would defintely hire them again.

Not well. Estimator had to reschedule a couple times. When he finally came out, he provided a verbal estimate to my husband. I requested an itemized estimate on Wednesday, was told I've have it Thursday and when I didn't have it by Friday, I had to remind him of my request. When something finally arrived, it was a general estimate, which didn't match what he told my husband. It left off tarping and wasn't itemized as requested per my insurance company.

I am a die-hard do-it-yourselfer. Mainly because I'm picky and contracted work rarely lives up to my standards. The way I see it, if I am paying a professional to do a job the work should easily exceed what I could have done with a little research, sweat & common sense, right? Not usually. I re-roofed the garage myself. It's not easy work. But the main house had a very steep pitch to it and I couldn't even get up there and look around comfortably without a rope & climbing gear. Able's crew came out with about 10 guys and knocked the job out in ONE DAY. The whole process was well coordinated and went better than I expected. Nothing was damaged and the cleanup was amazing. I scoured the area after the crew left and only found a couple of nails that had rolled down into the rain gutter. Everything the estimator had listed to be done was done. Two chimneys had to be re-flashed and it was done properly. These chimneys are stone with uneven mortar lines and have been a problem area since day one because they were not properly flashed when the original roof was put on. Able's crew had a single man apparently assigned to the chimney flashing. He handled that part from start to finish and I watched him very closely. The work was excellent! The first big wind storm of 2008 came through about a month later. Many roofs in my neighborhood were damaged. New roofs and old roofs alike. My new roof came through unscathed! No damage. No loose or bent shingles. Nothing! Good Job Able!!!!

When they left, my son realized the tarp was not underneath the roof. My son called them and they came out to put the tarp down. We just had a rainstorm and shingles were blown off the roof. They were going to charge $335 to come put the shingles back on. They didn't leave any extra shingles for him. I think that this company is a rip off. I would not recommend this company.

The repair from a year ago was for a leak and within a month it was leaking again. They came again and nailed it down. Then it started leaking within a month. That time, they said that my skylight needed replaced. They replaced my skylight 6 months ago and now the water is coming through the same place again. As a result of the leak, I now have significant drywall damage.

I think they got it done in a couple of days. Everything was clean when I got home each day. They got it done in a reasonable time. It was a nice job and I was very satisfied.

We were a little late getting back to our house to meet them. We actually arrived to see the gentleman climbing down off the ladder so he had obviously started looking at the roof without us. Being a homeowner, he said he didn't climb on the roof, but that was very concerning to me to think that someone would be climbing on my roof without me there just because of all of the liabilities & everything. So it was not a very good first start & when we told him we wanted to look at other companies he wanted to dispute with us & said you won't find anyone better than us, we've been in business for over 35 years. We didn't feel like that was a very good selling point necessarily & we just didn't appreciate basically feeling like the salesman was wanting to disagree with us & his product couldn't stand on its own. It was also concerning to see that with them, that their price estimate you had to pay extra for a warranty instead of it being included with the estimate. I'm sure it was included with the other company, but to see it as a lined item by itself was concerning. We would not use them again in the future.

I was very dissatisfied with them. They did a couple of my neighbors roofs and put the wrong color shingles on them. They haven't been able to satisfy them. The sales person made several promises that he would contact my neighbor and I finally told him where he could put that contract, so to hell with him.

They did a good job and it was a good experience. The estimate was very nice. They came in on time. They replaced a screen they had broken in the process of the re-roofing.

The only thing I didn't like is that it took them quite a while. Someone came out to find out what they needed, but when the workman came out he realized that they were incorrect and had to go back and get the correct material. However, after the work was done, I was very satisfied with the work, and they were extremely professional.

They were not very good. I dealt with three different people, the crew was one hundred percent Mexican and they didn't speak English. The man went out to check the work without me and he will not return my calls about some concerns that I have.

The experience went very well because the repairman came out at the appointed time, completed the job in a timely manner, and was very professional. He was knowledgeable and explained things in a way that I could understand what he was fixing and how he was fixing it. He spoke fluent English to me. He had a work uniform on--clean cut, didn't smoke or swear.

The sales representative gave me various options with different price points. When I explained to the sales representative that I was planning to sell the house within the next year or 2, he was very candid with me and told me that the work I was considering wasn't necessary to do and that it wouldn't add any value to the selling price of the house. I was extremely impressed with his honesty, and that will be the main reason why I would call Able back again if I needed similar work done in the future.

It was perfect. They were amazing and really efficient. They were also twenty grand less than anyone else. The job took a lot longer than anyone thought it would, but they didn't even ask me for another dime. They stuck to their quoted price.

Stay away. I am going with another company which I've seen act with integrity and do quality work with quality materials.

Able came to the house the next day to cover the damaged portions of the roof. We used them for a new roof and siding at another home and were pleased with the finished results.

Louie came to give us an estimate on our leaky roof, he was very professional, very friendly and fair. Within 2 weeks the work was completed to our satisfaction.

I need to replace the wood triangles above my garage on the front and rear. They had replaced my roof about five years ago. I called them about the siding. I liked the amount of their estimate (about $2,500.00), and plan to enter in contract to use them soon.

I called them to have them take a look at it because of a leak. They told me that they would send an inspector to examine the area where they had previously made a repair to check the roof. They sent a technician and he said that all it needed was some caulking, which was ridiculous. That wouldn't correct the problem with the sagging roof and the fact that the decking had been compromised. I told him that this wasn't satisfactory and he told me that someone from the office would contact would be in contact with me. Seven to ten days passed and I did not receive a returned call. I was forced to call Able and they put me in touch with one of the managers. He told me that it wasn't his department and that he said that he would have someone from the repair service contact me and if I didn't hear back within 24 hours that I should call him back. Nobody called me back. I called the manager back and left a message letting him know that no one had called me back. I didn't get a response from him either. I waited a couple of days. I called him again and left another message. He didn't return that call either. I wrote a letter to the President explaining the situation. After I had written the letter, I called Able and spoke with an assistant to tell her that I would be sending a letter. She told me that the President was out of town. I asked her if I could fax it and if she could then give it to one of the senior management people. She said that she would give this fax to one of their senior management people while the President was out of town. I told her that I would send a hard copy of the letter to the President in the mail. I did get a call from one of their senior management people. He said that they would send someone out and have them take a look at the problem. In the mean time, the President had returned and the letter was waiting for him. He didn't know that the fax had been passed onto one of their top management people. The President called me directly in response to the letter. He was very pleasant and very apologetic. He said that it would be taken care of and he would contact the person that would take care of the repair. After that, everything went smoothly. They sent a top supervisor to oversee this repair. He was there most of the time when they did the repair work. He was very responsive and helpful. In the end, they made the repair under their warranty and as far as I can tell it looked okay. Once I got contact with the President, everything went well. Prior to the time that I contacted the President, their response was dismal. After they did the repair work, the President called to follow up with the repair to make sure I was satisfied. I told him that as far as I could tell the work was done well and I would be sending him an email to commend the supervisor and the roofers, which I did. He said that if I had any further problems, that I should call him directly.

They came out and did it in one day, they even did a thorough job of cleaning up afterwards. Their service was fairly good, I was a little upset that only one of my workers spoke fluent English however that is the world we live in.

They did an excellent job. I was very pleased.

On time. Completed on time. They did good work.
