I've had wireless internet through Cincinnati Bell for the past 6 years. Since that time I've had to reset my modem at least 3 times a week -I thought this was normal (I've since learned it is not). About a month ago, my internet stopped working. I called and they sent out a tech who did not even come into my house (so I didn't even need to be there) --he "fixed" it from the street. It worked for about 3 days then it became necessary to reset the modem 10 to 20 times a day until it finally stopped working altogether. I called again after a few weeks of resetting the modem and then no internet at all. I wanted a credit for my month of crappy service. They only wanted to give me $25. I threatened to cancel my phone and Internet and they still did not want to give me anymore than $25. So I cancelled. They lost a loyal customer over $75. Way to keep customers, Cincinnati Bell. I guess you don't need them.

I love supporting Cincinnati businesses and changed my internet service to Cincinnati Bell Fioptics about one year ago. I have used Cincinnati Bell for telephone for 20 years. The package that I signed up for was $200 per month. Over the past year, I reported bad internet/DVR service without any resolution. When I say bad, I mean REALLY bad - there was no hope watching DVR if the kids were online. On my 1-year anniversary with Cincinnati Bell, my bill went from $200 to $350!! I called customer service to discuss the bill increase, but after 30 minutes waiting on a phone representative (yes, 30 minutes of on-hold music!!!!) I gave up and contacted Time Warner. Time Warner had a difficult time porting my home phone numbers over, which took several weeks to get resolved. Since my bill was at a whopping $350, I have no doubt that Cincinnati Bell was in no hurry to close that account. I turned in all my equipment last month and thought my nightmare was over. Today I received a new bill for a $100 modem and $20 power cord which I personally turned into the West Chester store. I had to find my turn in receipt, call Cincinnati Bell, wait on-hold, and waste another hour of my time because of their records.

Description of Work: It was free as the price was included in my set up for Fioptics. The service man working inside my house was outstanding. Getting the line run from the street to my house, however, took a week longer than expected. Once that was done everything ran smoothly.

Dozens of calls to tech support, hours and hours invested by me to try to get the service they promise. I'm not joking, I believe Cincinnati Bell is criminally negligent in that they advertise a service they do not deliver. I check my internet speed constantly through zoomtown speedtest. It varies, by the minute, between 100kbs to 2800kbs. The service is completely down for at least 10% of the time. Cincinnati Bell refuses to address the issue. I am talking to lawyers and will sue them if it looks promising.
Description of Work: The provider attempted to provide zoomtown DSL internet. Provider is unable to deliver speeds promised. Cincinnati Bell is criminally negligent. Cincinnati Bell lies about their services. Cincinnati Bell advertising is all lies. They promise one thing, deliver the other.

I just received my January 2015 bill. I have landline and zoomtown. Cincinnati Bell raised the cost of the modem 150%. According to the representative, if you have zoomtown you have to use their modem. I live in Kentucky, so I called the public service commission to register a complaint, only to be told that, per the Kentucky legislature, the commission is only allowed to handle complaints related to landlines. The commission was never given authority to handle complaints about internet service, so providers can raise rates anytime and any amount in Kentucky.

I had been with Cincinnati bell zoomtown for 8 years. The last few months, the service has been intermittent. When I call, they blame my computer but my work computer has the same problem. Then the service would re-establish on both computers at the same time....tells me it's their problem. So, I decided to upgrade to fioptics. have a letter that service would start at 9-4-2014 after 8 pm. Called @ 8:30 pm - no service - they said wait - called back later - they said not activated - wait. Called twice on Friday - no help - i'd get these off shore people that you couldn't understand. Finally on Sat, called and asked for a supervisor. Woman who helped me said they had never contacted dispatch to start service. Said I'd have service on Monday (9-8-14). Monday afternoon - no service - called @ 6:30 - same drill - wait till 8 pm. After 8PM - it could be anytime tonight...just wait. Finally around 10 pm, I called and the bozo on the phone said - well you may have a faulty modem. You'll need to take it to a Cincinnati bell store....Yea right... Anyway, I visited Verizon this morning. Within 10 minutes, they had this mobile modem set up for me. Guess what - 1/2 THE PRICE OF THE CINCINNATI BELL SERVICE. Anyway, I came home; set it up on both my work and home computers and it was off and running within 30 minutes. No phone calls - no off shore accents with please repeat over and over.... THIS WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD. AND JUST THINK I WAS AN 8 YEAR CUSTOMER. THEY WILL NOT STAY IN BUSINESS LIKE THIS. VERIZON NEEDS TO ADVERTISE THEIR $20 A MONTH MODEM. I WOULD HAVE SWITCHED YEARS AGO IF I'D KNOW I COULD HAVE GOOD OR BETTER SERVICE FOR 1/2 THE PRICE.

It took over a week just to schedule turning on ZoomTown at our home, even though it is an automated operation; in addition, we had to wait until after 7 or 8 pm (each call to customer/technical service resulted in a different estimate) before we could call to schedule someone to finally come out and identify why we still had no connection. This is all after we were told that service was available on our street but only up to our neighbor's house. We ended up waiting until the following week before a technician actually arrived and enabled service.

I moved from an apartment to a home. I selected Cinci Bell because of their association with DirecTV. I had confirmed a change of the installation day 2 weeks prior. I called again the day before and the person confirmed ok. Later that day, I received an automated call confirming the installation for the next day from 8 to 12. No communication from them happened. I called again after 12. After investing over 30 min of my time, the person said I should call back again after 1:15. Of course no one showed up. I called again and invested over an hour talking to someone in the Philippines who let me know I was now scheduled a week later. I asked him why it would be a different result next time and he said he would make sure. Next, I went to a store, and they let me know the Engineering department just canceled my installation without any notification. BTW, they would not prorate disconnecting the service while the prorate connecting. Terrible service for average features.

I had a wonderful experience. I did the online chat to set up everything. The installer was there right on time. It took very little time for him to set it all up. He explained everything to me and everything worked great. I will say that it can be a little slow at times. I purchased the 10 mgb.

I wanted a better router and got three different answers from Bell. I finally purchased my own wireless router but was offered no rebate on the monthly 'modem' fee. The Tech at the call center didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. I had to visit s sales center to get a straight answer. The most positive thing is that I have Fioptics service and the speed (20 mbps) is great. Too bad customer service is not as good. overall, my Fioptics bundle of internet, basic digital TV with DVR, and a simple land line is not topping out at over $180/month.

Keith arrived and found that a wire within our wall had come lose or broke. He was able to restore service and actually make our internet faster! I couldn't be happier!!
Description of Work: We lost internet service yesterday (Sunday). After waiting several hours, we called in the early evening. We spoke to someone who seemed to be from overseas (but not sure). They tried to diagnose the problem over the phone but it was decided that our problem required a tech here at the house. They said the earliest that they could schedule was Thursday AM. My employers are located 500 miles away. I work remotely from home. Four days without internet would be a very big problem! No luck. I called the service dispatcher (Steve) this morning and he was able to fit me in around 10:00 today.

We have always had internet and phone through Cincinnati Bell. Their price was decent and they are a local company. Recently, we've had problems. First there was a problem with our email. When we called the Customer Service Number, we were informed (by a foreign accent) that we needed to go to a local retail outlet with id because they did not have my husband's social security number and they needed to verifiy the last four digits. We went to the outlet, the very nice young man fixed the problem with no requirement of social security number. Since then, we have received automated calls that hang up when we answer the phone. I have tried to contact them, been put on hold or told Customer Service was closed for the day. When I tried to go on line, it is a series of questions, none that apply to my situation, and no place that I can find just to send a simple email. People that I know have switched providers because they cannot contact a human person at Cincinnati Bell and I'm about ready to do the same!

Description of Work: We've had Zoomtown since about 2001. We've never had a problem with it and have been very happy with the service. The one time we had to call their customer support they were very helpful and helped fix the issue pretty quickly. I will continue to use this local company for broadband. Hard to believe they were one of the first in the nation to offer DSL and they are our hometown phone carrier!

The Cincinnati Bell Zoomtown service constantly drops out. I have to maintain a useless land-line in order to have it. They even nickel and dime you to death with hidden taxes (almost $6/mth worth of "taxes" and "fees"). When my wife changed her name, they wanted to charge $15 just for that! Not even my BANK or CREDIT CARDS charge to change a name. Also just to move service to a new home, they charge $30. I'm through with Cincinnati Bell and their dumb internet service.
