Customers say: True professional

"The Grecco Group provided me with a superior chain-link fence Truely 5 star service. The removal of the very old fence was challenging but easily completed by Chritian and Joe with the help of their crew and and exactly the right tools to get the job done. The new installation went like clock work. It is great to watch great pro,s do what they do best. I am ecstatic with the results. I will definitely recommend The Grecco Group to anyone who asks. Thanks guys"

Metal Stairs and Railings - Repair

Small jobs welcome

Offers commercial services

"Mark is a craftsman and a gentleman. He asked for photos of the railings and called me in less than 5 minutes after I sent them. He came to the property the same day and gave me an estimate. He said he was concerned about someone falling because of the missing railings and would do the repair quickly. The job was finished the next day! He fabricated the necessary pieces that same evening so that he could do the repair in the morning. The rails were installed AND painted by lunchtime. They will outlast the house. When my wife saw the finished rails, she immediately wanted to hire him for another job! Plus, Mark's fee was almost half of what the other 2 competitors quoted."

Welding questions, answered by experts

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

Choosing the right metal fabricator for your project begins with research. Find a reputable fabrication company by searching for reputable contractors in your area, and then reviewing photos of their previous work, customer reviews, and photos of the company’s workshop.

Once you’ve narrowed down the list, contact the companies to ask about the types of metal fabrication projects they specialize and inquire about guarantees and warranties on workmanship. You should also ensure the company uses high-quality material, and ask about the schedule and turnaround time for your proposed project.

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500
