John was awesome. His ideas for design and where to place, and what type of  lighting were beyond what we could have imagined.
His work is perfect and he left the room cleaner that it was when he came in.
Highly recommended.

We didn't actually pay for the service and I don't know what the charge was. It was an issue in a house we were buying, and we could find no one with experience fixing radiant ceiling heat. John did his research, obtained special equipment and fixed the problem. He was hired by the owners/sellers of the house, but because I had found him and brought him on board, he also communicated with us and was really open and helpful. Five stars!

Gave me the amt. after completing the job and rattled off the breakdown.
Paid him and Thanked him.  In evening after busy day 14hour day called him with 2 quick questions:
(1) Do you give estimate in advance  (2) Can you give me the breakdown again so I can write it down.
This upset him. Said it was insulting. Said he would complain to the guy who recommended him.
Tried to explain to him that no offense was meant.
He asked whether the price was the proble?.  Told him I am a businessman. Just wanted to know - to deal as a businessman
& have a long-term relationship.  He gave me a goodbye & good luck speech and hung up.
Overall seemed to be full of self-importance, arrogance and abrasiveness.

I called John Conte in December of 2012 after I purchased an electric  tankless water heater.  We made an appointment and John arrived early.  He assessed the (electrical) situation and expressed to me his concerns about wiring the water heater that required such an exorbitant amount of amperage.  We discussed the options and arrived at a mutually satisfactory compromise.  It was a pleasure talking with John as he is competent and conscientious. He made me feel comfortable about the job he would perform.
As an aside note, John was the fifth electrician from Angie's List that came to my house to evaluate this installation.  I received five different opinions which vexed me completely.  One electrician said he needed some time to think about how to do the wiring.  Another just didn't seem comfortable doing it and put the responsibility on me if anything wrong happened after the installation.  One gave me an estimate and then doubled the amount the next day.  Now you may understand why it was a pleasure dealing with John Conte.
I procrastinated the installation until recently.  I called John last week and, remembering me, we made an appointment for the wiring.  John told me his father (John, Sr.) would be doing the job, which I had no quarrel with since John, Sr. taught John, Jr. the trade.  John, Sr, arrived early and we talked about the tankless water heater and the wiring.  John, Sr. changed the original plan a little and recommended some changes be made in the panel.  He explained to me his recommendations and I agreed.  John Sr. is a wonderful, easy going gentleman.  He is a patient listener and an excellent communicator.  After John Sr finished the wiring, he needed to return after the plumbing was done on the water heater.  The next day, after the plumbing was done, John Sr returned and finished the work on the circuit breaker panel.
The work preformed was beautiful.  It is like artwork.  The wires were aligned, no kinks or bends.  It is truly amazing to look at.  I have no regrets, and I am completely happy with the work performed by John Conte Electric.  I would never consider using anyone else for my electrical needs.  And neither should you!!

I found Conte Electric through Angie's List as the reviews were all great. It turns out the "too good to be true"-sounding reviews were actually right on the money. The Contes are MASTERFUL electricians and exceedingly nice people. They were punctual, pleasant, and all of the work was done with the highest levels of expertise. Additionally, they cleaned up so well things were probably in better shape when they left than when they first arrived. lol  The work was a lot of money but it did take a good amount of time for it to be completed. While paying that much for anything is never easy, I have absolutely no regrets as the Contes work is top notch. I really can't imagine anyone exceeding their skills.  I will definitely be calling on Conte Electric to do more work for me as the pride they take in their work is immediately evident from the quality results. To top it off, they are terrific people to deal with...punctual, courteous, trustworthy, etc. I would recommend them without reservation for any of your electrical and/or home theater needs.

John was recommended to my son in law by a fellow employee.  John had done work for the friend before and his work was always top notch.  So I called him and am very satisfied.

We recently purchased a large screen flat panel HDTV and then decided we wanted to have an "in wall" installation done in a room that had just been painted. There was no electrical outlet, cable connection or other wiring in the wall where we wanted the TV installed. We called John and set up an appointment for him to come and check the scope of the work and provide an estimate. John was here at the scheduled time, explained in detail what the work would involve, how he would go about it, and answered all questions that my wife and I had. He told us when he would be available to do the work and said that he would call us with an estimate after figuring the cost of the materials. John called shortly after and advised how much it would cost, which we thought was very reasonable, and we agreed to have him do the work. He arrived on the agreed upon day and time and completed the work in a very professional, thourough  and satisfactory manner. My wife and I were concerned that having the cables and outlets installed in an existing wall would "make a mess" and require re-painting the room, and with having the work done in accordance with electrical code. John completed the work without disturbing our newly painted walls, cleaned up afterward and left our home looking like there had never been any work done. His work exceeded our expectations and we will definitely have him perform any future electrical related work we have.

Everything was perfect, from the response to my phone call to the finished job. He came when promised for the estimate and to do the job. he and his son work efficiently and neatly. They kept me informed every step of the way, made helpful suggestions as to placement, switches etc. They did nothing extra without asking and explaining why; Our house was built in 1965, so a couple items needed replacing to comply with current codes. They picked up all trash and vacuumed the rooms they worked in, as well as covering nearby counters, appliances, and such to keep from getting dirty or damaged. Since our house is old, so we will need electrical upgrades in other areas, and I will not hesitate to call on John Conte.

John Sr. came a little bit earlier. Except for the fact that it was time for school bus, it was appreciated. The job was done very nicely and neatly. The job started around 9AM and was finished around 3PM and John entertained my question about a defunct external light and did some diagnosis for me. There was a snowstorm the day after so we almost got to use the generator.

During the sale of my home, I discovered that I needed to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy for a pre-existing finished basement that was done by the owners of my home in the late 1970's.  In order to get the CO, I needed to have an electrical inspection done.  When the electrical inspector came, he cited a defect in the sub-panel box.  Basically, he stated that the neutral wire and ground wires were crossed in the box and in order to bring it up to code, a ground bar would have to be installed and all the ground wires would have to be hooked into it.  Needless to say, I was very upset that I had to do this, but I had a card from John from some previous work, so I called him on his cellphone and explained what needed to be done.  John was able to come to my home WITHIN AN HOUR to do the work.  He came over, did the work in about an hour and explained to me what was done afterwards.  Finally, he told me should I have any other issues, just call and he'll come right away.  After he left, I looked at all the breakers and had a question.  I called him that night and he explained the situation and told me not to worry about it.  Needless to say, when the electrical inspector came back, I passed inspection with flying colors and just got the CO yesterday.  John is a qualified electrician who is always upbeat and positive.  He is a true professional and I will definitely be hiring him again when I get into my new home to do some electrical work I need done.  Thanks John for making a stressful situation very easy for me and my family.

He's very responsive, punctual, honest and practical, did estimate and returned a week later to do the work, all on time. Suggested the most practical solutions to problems and did not try to push unnecessary expense. Work was done quickly, he was very careful to keep from messing up the house and cleaned up everything. Very happy!

We were thinking that our ceiling fan didn't work because of a wiring issue at the switch so we called Conte Electric. He responded to our call promptly, diagnosed the problem and told us the problem was with the motor of the fan. He recommended some brands and a store and when the fan came in, he installed it for a good price and we couldn't be more pleased..

I got the names of these electricians from someone that used them for electric work in a kitchen remodel. This is a father and son team (John and John, confusing at times). The vent fan in the bathroom off the master bath became noisy and needed replacement. My 16 year old daughter has a habit of taking extremely long hot showers in her bathroom, which lead to moldy walls. I contacted John a few weeks before he performed the work for an estimate. He was prompt in showing up for the estimate and we quickly decided on a mutually agreeable time to do the work. They were prompt in getting to my house on the appointed date and went quickly to work. And they worked the entire time they were here. They did not spend time with other phone calls whether to other clients, friends or whoever. This is something that is important to me. I understand that a contractor may need to make an occasional call, but I expect them to work on my stuff when they are being paid by me. The covered every thing exposed with drop cloths. They were very neat in performing their work. Installing the box for the makeup mirror was a new task that I hadn't discussed with them (last minute thing on my part). They were agreeable to doing the work that day, albeit a small amount of work. Thy went out on my garage roof to block off the hole left from the old vent line as they rerouted the new one. This is not really a task for electricians and I actually felt bad about it when I realized this wasn't really their line of work, but they went out on the roof and did what I had asked. They cleaned up after themselves. My wife came home from work looking for the vacuum cleaner expecting to spend a lot of time cleaning up. She was somewhat shocked that she didn't need to run the vacuum cleaner and things were very clean. I am remodeling my kitchen at a future date and will contact these folks to do the electrical work for that.
