"While looking for a plumber to inspect and replace a leaking water heater, I found Rapid Repairs.  I called the number, and was directed to send a text message if I needed a emergent response.  After only a few minutes, I got a response in a text message addressing my issue.  They were professional and answered my questions as best he could without being at my house.  I even got estimates based on my answers.  The only reason I did not utilize their service was that I needed hot water immediately, and they were already on multiple service calls, meaning the earliest they could come out would be Monday.
I would definitely use them in the future, I was very happy with the response and appreciated that he was polite and understood that I couldn't wait for them to become available.

"I'm a new homeowner in Oceanside NY who bought a house with some plumbing problems. After being stood up three times by another plumber, I called Pride Plumbing and Heating. They exceeded my expectations in every way. Steve visited my home promptly to give me detailed, itemized estimates for multiple issues at my house. They replaced a hot water heater, installed frost-free hose bibs and fixed a plumbing venting problem in my basement. Joe and Barry are great - knowledgable, friendly and neat. If you need a plumber who shows up on time, is respectful of your property and can do a wide variety of plumbing and heating tasks, call Pride - they are terrific!"

"My plumber, Mark, was extremely professional, communicative, and did excellent work. He went out of his way to work around my schedule and explain every step of the process to me. The new install was done quickly and was certainly done better than whoever installed the last one. I would absolutely recommend MFS for anyone looking for a plumber."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can replace just the top of a bathroom vanity, which you may choose to do if you love the look of your vintage bathroom cabinets, but the countertops are not your style. Fortunately, it is pretty simple to detach a vanity top from a base for replacement, but you should still shut off the water to avoid a leak. Replacing only the vanity top costs around $400 to $4,300.

Porcelain and enamel sinks have very similar appearances, but they aren’t the same. Porcelain is a ceramic made from natural clay, while enamel is a strong powder that’s glazed over a metal sink. Use a magnet to determine whether you have an enamel or porcelain sink. If a strong magnet sticks to the sink, it’s likely enamel. If it doesn’t, you probably have a porcelain sink. You can also use the model number on the sink (often found on the underside of the bowl) or information from the manufacturer to determine the material.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

The best material to use will depend on your budget and style goals. Fireclay is a great choice but is expensive and heavy. Stainless steel is less expensive and more durable, but lacks the wow factor a clay sink might. Copper is very expensive but lasts a long time and has a striking appearance. Those looking for an industrial look can go with concrete, or those looking for a classic design might choose porcelain.

The best place for a kitchen sink drain is the middle of the sink. Most people prefer center drains because they allow for better water and waste drainage, and the center location limits splashing because water flows straight down the drain hole. If the sink drain is too close to the edge of the sink, water can collect and drain too slowly. It can also be easier to clean sinks when the drain is closer to the center since debris is easier to wash down and doesn’t collect along the sides as easily.
