"While looking for a plumber to inspect and replace a leaking water heater, I found Rapid Repairs.  I called the number, and was directed to send a text message if I needed a emergent response.  After only a few minutes, I got a response in a text message addressing my issue.  They were professional and answered my questions as best he could without being at my house.  I even got estimates based on my answers.  The only reason I did not utilize their service was that I needed hot water immediately, and they were already on multiple service calls, meaning the earliest they could come out would be Monday.
I would definitely use them in the future, I was very happy with the response and appreciated that he was polite and understood that I couldn't wait for them to become available.

"I first met Andrea twelve years ago when I moved into my new home. I was looking to do something special with my kitchen and had decided to put a small mural of the French wine country over my sink. Andrea convinced me to purchase a larger size than I had planned for and suggested adding a contrasting backsplash. The result was phenomenal – everyone who walks into my kitchen compliments me on how beautiful it is. Luckily, I kept Andrea’s card so when I decided to resurface my living room fireplace with mosaic tiles and marble I contacted him. The job was much more complicated than anticipated – my fireplace has an arch on top of the mantle that gradually comes to a point. There were rounded edges and very uneven surfaces that had to be dealt with. The mosaic tiles on the sides had to be hand-cut and pieced together so the pattern matched the front of the fireplace. Andrea took the time to make sure everything was perfect; we originally were going to use edging strips but he decided to take additional time to individually bullnose each piece to give it a cleaner look. The result is absolutely gorgeous – it changed the entire look of my living room. Besides being a perfectionist, Andrea is really a great guy. Each night, he made sure everything was clean and put back the right way; he even wiped down my staircase before leaving. When he and his assistant Rafael (who went out and shoveled my walkway and car during a snowstorm) left, I felt I was saying goodbye to good friends. There are very few craftsmen these days who take the time and patience to do a job the way. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a real artisan – I guarantee you won’t be sorry!"

"Mark did a fantastic job of installing the new dishwasher. I'm in a 70-year-old building, with 35-year-old kitchen counters. Getting the dishwasher to fit into the space and run properly required a lot of imagination, and Mark figured it out. He's a professional and his work is excellent. While he was working on the dishwasher, he also upgraded some of the kitchen plumbing, so now we're in great shape. He's a real professional!"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

It is best practice to hire a plumber to install a bathroom sink and vanity. Even simple installations require basic plumbing work, such as connecting water supply lines and attaching the sink to the drainage system. While an experienced DIYer might manage a straightforward setup, any complex work, like modifying existing plumbing or installing new lines, should always be left to a licensed plumber to avoid the risk of expensive water damage. In most cases, a plumber will handle the installation, provided it is a straightforward job that does not require custom carpentry. It's important to outline your expectations with the plumber beforehand to confirm they can handle the full project.

Quartz sinks are incredibly durable, making them resistant to cracks and chips. They’re a high-density engineered stone, so they’re less likely to crack when exposed to daily impact. But because quartz sinks are so dense, they are very heavy, making installation a challenge. If you’re a novice, there’s a chance dropping one during installation could crack or break the sink. Additionally, repeatedly dropping heavy objects into them could create a crack.

Porcelain and enamel sinks have very similar appearances, but they aren’t the same. Porcelain is a ceramic made from natural clay, while enamel is a strong powder that’s glazed over a metal sink. Use a magnet to determine whether you have an enamel or porcelain sink. If a strong magnet sticks to the sink, it’s likely enamel. If it doesn’t, you probably have a porcelain sink. You can also use the model number on the sink (often found on the underside of the bowl) or information from the manufacturer to determine the material.

The cost depends on the parts, labor, extent of damage, and whether extensive plumbing modifications are required. Typical repairs cost $150-$300.

Whether a pot filler is worth it depends on your cooking habits, budget, and kitchen layout. For avid home cooks who frequently prepare pasta, soups, or stocks, the convenience of filling large pots directly on the stove can be a significant benefit. A pot filler can also add value to a home, attracting potential buyers with its combination of luxury and utility. However, the installation can cost around $800. The return on this investment is highest in larger kitchens where the sink is far from the stove. In smaller kitchens, where the sink is nearby, a pot filler might be perceived as an unnecessary feature by some homeowners or potential buyers.
