General contractor that performs any work from the foundation to the finish! We can complete any project from a basic deck, to a complete remodel, to a brand new home and can also include hardscape and landscape services!

"Great workmanship in the retaining wall Mike and Steve built for me. Very professional and took extra care to not rip up the lawn nearby the work area. Also was proactive to spread the extra crushed stone material in the driveway which needed some attention. Will definitely hire again as my list of additional work for Mike and Steve is growing. Highly recommend."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

The construction stage, which includes pouring the foundation, framing the structure or building the walls if you choose a concrete house, and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring, will almost always take the longest. The planning phase can take just as long if you’re building a custom home, but the finishing process, which includes painting, installing trim, and finishing the interior, will rarely take longer than the previous two phases.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

The number of rooms a guest house should have really depends on your needs. A small guest house might only need one bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. Larger units may have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Your local building codes may limit the number of rooms or square footage you can have in a guest house.

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.

How long it takes to build a log cabin depends on a variety of factors, including its size and design, and whether or not you have to clear the land. Construction can take a few weeks for a prefab log cabin on an established site, but up to eight or nine months for a custom cabin on undeveloped land. In comparison, the timeline to build a house is typically four to 12 months.
