"I had a completely different experience than the other reviewed. Doug was incredible and did an amazing job. I hired him for several projects, including general landscaping, tree removal, and area clean up, but the biggest project I hired him for was the removal of a decaying retaining wall and installation of a brand new one. Doug kept me in he loop at all times, kept a clean work site, was completely professional, and did an amazing installation job. Yes, he works alone, but I look at that as an advantage. First, he is a perfectionist and laid every stone himself. Second, his price was much cheaper than other quotes I received because he is not paying employees. The wall, which is 90 feet long, was a huge undertaking and I could not have asked for a better job. I also had him plant trees on my property. He comes by every other day to check on them and water them -- not many contractors care that much. I highly recommend Doug and have already hired him for new projects. The final point I will make is that many of the contractors I have either contacted or hired are non-responsive, do nto keep me up-to-date, or outtight lie. Doug is the complete opposite."

Adirondack Restoration, was founded by me, Scott Bemis, after managing countless high profile projects for other businesses for many years. I bring over twenty years of experiences, resources, and contacts into the business that has given Adirondack Restoration, a reputation of superior quality. We balance the return of beauty and increased sustainability to vintage structures by incorporating both traditional techniques with modern materials. In doing this, we reduce the impact of a growing population on our environment, preserve the rich history and precious forested areas of our region, save our customers the high cost of new construction, and minimize the need for lending. Our website is an ongoing portfolio of our work, giving the visitor a visualization of what we do and how we do it. We hope you can take the time to view our work. We are always happy to give a free estimate and discuss how we can assist in achieving your vision.

Fountains questions, answered by experts

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.

Water features enhance aesthetics, improve outdoor ambiance, and provide a soothing, tranquil atmosphere.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

Fountain maintenance is an important part of having a clean foundation in the first place. To keep your fountain water clean, you can use a water additive designed specifically to limit scale, algae, and other buildup in fountains. Or opt to use white vinegar as a pantry-ready water additive.

In addition to length and width, pond liners also come in various thickness levels. Thickness is measured in mils, a unit of measurement equal to one-thousandth of an inch, with most pond liners ranging from 15 to 60 mils in thickness. The smaller the number, the thinner (and weaker) the liner. To prevent rips and tears, it’s best to choose a pond liner that’s at least 30 mils thick.
