"We had a prompt response and extremely knowledgable and professional service. We were impressed that Bill was able to fix our chronic kitchen sink drain problem that others have not been able to solve! He gave us pricing of a few options and explained each one. We would highly recommend and would definitely hire again!"

"Mike and Brian came to the house exactly when they said they would. The main sewer drain was clogged. The assessment of the issue and more importantly the advise was so helpful and honest. We would highly recommend and plan to utilize their service in the future!"

Small jobs welcome

"I called for this service because I was afraid my drain might become clogged after I kept hearing a "suspicious" noise. Thought it would be better to find out if there was a problem rather than wait until the basement flooded! When I called, Jason said he could come two days later, so I made the appointment. An hour later, he called and said he had a cancellation and did I want him to come right away. I did! He carefully tested each toilet and drain, but even though he heard the sound, he felt that it was only air in the pipes, nothing serious. To be sure, he checked the main drain, which needed to be cleaned out (10 years since the last time). I asked him to clean it, and he took care of it immediately. He was personable, professional and very efficient--returning the storage room to its original condition after the work, and charged a very reasonable amount for the job. Unlike some larger companies, he didn't charge a huge amount just to show up, and didn't suggest all kinds of things to be done that were not needed. I recommend him very highly, and have already put his number into my contact list for the next time I'm worried about a plumbing issue!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly with non-abrasive cleaners, avoid pouring grease down the drain, and check for leaks under the sink.

To unclog the drain pipe, remove the machine's drain hose from the pipe or sink drain, being careful to contain any water in it. Next, use a plunger for sink drains or a plumbing snake for a wall drain. Test the repair by pouring a small amount of water into the pipe before trying it with a laundry load.

Some homeowners use additives every month to help septic system performance, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the effectiveness of septic system and leach field additives is unknown. Further, additives made with organic solvents or alkali chemicals can actually be harmful to the necessary bacteria in a septic system.

You may have a clogged gutter. Downspouts can also clog if your gutter collects too much debris. Hire a professional gutter cleaner, and if you still have problems, install a gutter guard (which prevents debris from entering your gutter system) and a downspout extension (which helps drain water further away from your foundation, so it doesn't pool near your house). Follow these tips to keep your gutter downspouts clean.

Even if the shower drain doesn’t seem clogged or dirty, plan to clean it out about once per month—or more frequently if you or your family shed a lot of hair. It’s a good practice to remove any hair from the drain on a daily basis, as hair can accumulate fast and cause clogs in no time. You may also want to have a plumber thoroughly clean the drains in your home once every six months.
