Clear and tinted Shatter Shield Security window films. Impact protection films with added energy efficiency. The least secure part of any home or commercial property is always the windows: they can be smashed through by burglars or shattered by violent weather. They can be damaged by an unforeseeable accident, sending shards of glass flying, or they can come shattered during a natural disaster. Whether your concern is preventing theft or property damage or preventing the hazards that come from accidents or weather, the solution remains the same: security window film. Shatter Shield Window Films provide protection, safety and comfort from the unforeseeable events. They protect against natural catastrophes, hurricanes, explosions, vandalism, burglary, glass breakage and turbulent weather. Security films provide protection and are designed to absorb the energy from wind, flying debris, intruders and shock wave. They will provide protection against flying shards of glass from the broken window and protect the occupants inside the building. Smash-and-grab protection With Shatter Shield Film, burglars are deterred because as the glass breaks, a “spider web” of broken glass forms that will not permit the perpetrator to enter through the window, slowing down and even stopping their burglary efforts. Storm protection Shatter Shield films provide protection and helps prevent shattering or flying glass pieces by holding the glass together. Blast protection Shatter Shield Film provides a protective shell to glass that may be the only thing between you and harm’s way. Once the glass has been breached, a ”spider web” of broken glass forms. However, the films which ranges anywhere from 4mil to 12mil will not permit the blast or debris to penetrate the glass.

"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Hurricane Film questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer to this question, but the wind rating of your shingles will give you a good idea of what wind speeds can damage your roof. If you’re concerned about damage, inspect your roof following windy conditions to look for signs of wind damage to your shingles. When in doubt, consider hiring a professional who fixes roofs to carry out an expert inspection. Remember that hurricanes, tropical storms, and tornadoes are likely to cause the most damage, but even severe thunderstorms can bring winds that compromise your roofing system.

In general, hailstones need to be at least one inch in diameter to cause damage to a roof. Smaller hailstones can also cause damage, but usually only if accompanied by strong winds or striking aging roofs in poor condition. Obviously, the larger the hail, the more potential for damage.

Schedule regular snow removal, apply salt or sand to icy areas, and mark hazards like curbs or drains.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

In many cases, yes, homeowners insurance covers roof damage caused by snow. For example, if your roof collapses in a snowstorm or an ice dam leads to a leak in your ceiling, your policy should cover the cost of repairs. However, to get your claim approved, your roof must be well-maintained and in good condition overall, aside from the recent snow-related damage.
