"It went great.Other than William getting stuck at a job, which happens, but he called me and told me he would be an hour late. He got there on time for that. I appreciated the courtesy call as you don't always get that and you wonder where the person you hired is. They were polite, friendly, professional and they did a great job."

"needed a plumber, called last night around 4:pm to make an appt for next day. this guy came an hour after i called. offered to do more work for more $$$, i turned him down, he did not push it, was friendly, fast, efficient, reasonably priced. grateful for the work (!) 1/2 hour later, my problem was fixed, everything neat and clean.....then he did some of the extra work, but didn't charge me! william of python plumbing, with his sidekick dominick. highly recommended. 518-698-5288"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Professionals use snakes, hydrojetting, or chemical cleaners to clear blockages effectively without damaging pipes.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

If you try a drain snake and various DIY methods for unclogging drains to no avail, bring in a professional plumber to assess the situation. Also, if multiple drains in your home are backing up or you smell sewage, a visit from a plumber is best. You can expect your drain cleaning costs to fall around $250, and this can include an assessment of what’s caught in your plumbing and if there’s a larger, underlying problem. You should also consider calling a pro if you need to snake a toilet, as DIYing this could lead to a cracked fixture.

Drain fly problems can go away on their own—but only if the insects find the environment inhospitable. Those with a minor infestation can simply flush their toilets and run their faucets more frequently to flush out the flies and larvae. Others will have to deep clean their drains and set up traps.

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.
