As a professional upholsterer for nearly 20 years, I have restored furniture of every style and from every era, including early 19th century, traditional, mid-century modern, Danish modern, and more. I bring a craftsman's eye and a fine attention to detail to every piece of furniture I work on. I cut no corners--I use the utmost care to restore your cherished furniture so it will bring you enjoyment for years to come. People appreciate the quality of my work, my personal, attentive service, and my fair prices. I have many satisfied customers--many of whom return to me with new projects. I will gladly provide references. In 2019, I relocated to Philmont, New York from Provincetown, Massachusetts, where I ran a successful business for five years. Prior to that, I had a studio in northern Vermont. Before going out on my own I served as an apprentice for five years and an upholstery manager at Pompanoosuc Mills in Thetford, Vermont. I am delighted to now live in beautiful Columbia County. I look forward to meeting the upholstery needs of people here and throughout the mid-Hudson Valley.

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Craftsmanship begins with detailed design followed by skilled artisans shaping high-quality materials into the desired furniture, ensuring durability and uniqueness.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

The time to reupholster a couch often ranges from one to three weeks, depending on the upholsterer's workload, fabric availability, and the complexity of your couch. This breaks down between 10 and 20 hours if you hire a professional, or 20 to 40 hours if you DIY. Custom features or repairs may extend the timeline.

When deciding whether to reupholster, repair, or replace old furniture, consider its age, level of wear and tear, and overall value. It’s usually better to repair old furniture because older pieces tend to be made out of hardwood, like oak and maple, whereas newer furniture is more often made out of plywood, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and other less durable materials. When determining whether it’s worth the price to repair a furniture item, calculate the price of buying a new, similar piece and compare that to quotes from local furniture repair services.
