"Daniel and his crew did a good job planning and completing the project of adding 500 sq ft to the back of my house. That included demolition of back porch and fireplace, expanding the living room, primary bedroom, primary bathroom and large walk-in closet. We worked well together in the design and execution of my dream home. The best way to communicate with Daniel is by text."

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"Highly recommend these guys! Went beyond customer service expectation and communicated through the entire process. I first got our walk path done by them, stamped concrete and also flagstone. I then had them do a retaining wall that almost wrapped around our entire property including added stairs for the dogs, and in the back yard a added grilling area. The retaining wall process required much work because they had to dig and level. To me the price was very fair , major house projects that are done correctly are not cheap , but the outcome is all worth it because it looks amazing and is done right. These guys know what they are doing, are honest , and their work ethic is absolutely amazing."

"Mike did a good job. He was punctual. I bought 3 hours of service for $99 and I can  say I got my money's worth.  The work on the door molding was a little tricky but Mike persevered until I was satisfied.  I then hired him to cut off some bi-fold doors that were dragging on the carpet and his price was reasonable and I was pleased with his work.  I will call him again.

"We are 6 months into Francisco building our home, and the experience has been great! Francisco is on top of everything, the work is all top-notch (and I am a woodworker - I know good work), and progressing rapidly. Francisco is great to work with, he calls at least every week to update us on the progress, and has great suggestions to make our home even nicer. He is been with us from the very beginning: evaluating the lot before we bought it, working out the plans (which we developed with his architect), and situating the home. Now the home is coming together and it is incredible, we love it more each day. If we were to do this again (which I do not anticipate) I would wait for Francisco to be available before we considered starting anything."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.

A construction-to-permanent loan is the most common type of mortgage used to finance a house teardown and rebuild. These loans include financing for construction costs and convert to a long-term mortgage once construction is complete. Check the terms of the loan closely before beginning work—there are often restrictions requiring you to use licensed contractors for all work.

One of the best ways to negotiate with a homebuilder is to forgo price reductions. Instead, negotiate over upgrades and incentives, as many builders are more willing to go down that road than to decrease their own fee. Even if they were willing to take a cut, a reputable homebuilder often knows their worth, so a willingness to negotiate could be a red flag. Beyond that, builders are typically willing to negotiate closing costs instead of offering a discount on the base price.

Local regulations dictate how big an ADU can be, and there may also be restrictions on the percentage of the main residence’s square footage an ADU can have. In most cases, an ADU must be smaller than the main residence, but check with your local building authority to confirm restrictions on ADU size.

Yes, you can finance cottage construction through several options. Construction loans provide funds in stages as work progresses, while home equity loans or lines of credit are available if you have existing property. Some lenders offer a combined construction and permanent mortgage. Always review loan terms and payment milestones before committing.
