"Jose was very friendly and professional He came to check the site for a free estimate almost immediately, that was nice and efficient. Jose repaired over 100 feet of old fence on our property! It took one day to place new posts in concrete and another day to repair and replace fence panels. Cost was exceptionally reasonable, work performed was completed professionally, removed all trash and left the site clean. Couldn’t ask for better service. Hire this guy for all your landscaping needs. I will be working with Jose again soon on a new backyard project!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

While both fall and spring are suitable times of the year for planting trees, fall is typically the better option. Soil stays warm long enough to allow tree roots to establish in fall before they go dormant, while spring might give way to intense summer heat before spring-planted trees have time to grow strong roots.

Hedge plants are available in almost every size, from seedlings to fully mature, six-foot-tall shrubs. Planting smaller plants is much easier and more cost-effective. However, it can take years for the plants to reach maturity and create a full hedge. Garden centers and specialty retailers sometimes offer three to four-foot wide plants that you can simply plant next to each other for an instant full hedge.

If you’re hiring a landscaper to plant the garden of your dreams, you do not need to provide them with plants that you bought yourself from a nursery. While you certainly can provide your landscaper with plants, keep in mind that some nurseries provide discounts to landscaping companies, therefore potentially lowering your materials cost. Beyond the cost of the plants themselves, you need to have additional materials like topsoil and mulch for the project. Most likely, your landscaper can get a discount on these materials as well, so it’s worth speaking with them before making any large purchases.

Professional lakefront landscaping addresses environmental factors such as water level fluctuations, erosion control, and native plant suitability. Regular maintenance includes pruning, fertilization, and ensuring drainage systems function well.

Finding a reputable greenhouse or nursery should start online, where you can read through customer reviews to gauge the quality of the plants sold and the customer experience. Look out for customers complaining about plants dying shortly after purchase, and try to choose a greenhouse known for hiring employees who are able to explain how to care for the plants you purchase. It’s also a good idea to head to a few greenhouses to see the selection they offer and make sure they carry the plants or trees you’re looking for.
