Tree Advisory

It went horribly. They were very unprofessional, poor communication. This was supposed to take 2 days August 28th and August 29th, he was supposed to finish on August 30th - I was out of town so left the remaining balance for Tree Advisory in my mailbox on that day so they are paid in full. He messaged me Labor day to say he would haul away the remaining debris on Sept 2nd, then he didn't show and called and said he would be there on the 3rd but he didn't show, then didn't show on the 4th either, I left 3 text messages and no response. I called him again again on Sept 5th in the morning- got voicemail. He is now ghosting us.

{Name Removed} The Owner gave me an estimate to remove a large limb from my sugar maple tree on August 9, 2024. Not knowing how much the average cost would be, I depended upon Angi to recommend qualified arborists. He gave me a cost of $5000. In this estimate was included to trim some bushes I had on my property, He said he would be coming first thing Monday morning. When he didn't show up I called him and he told me that I had called him that morning and had cancelled for the date. He said he would be here bright and early Tuesday morning. When he didn't arrive, I notified the Garden City Police that I believed he was a fraud, and taking advantage of the elderly. The officer phoned him and told him that he was taking advantage of the elderly. {Name Removed} came soon after the police called him. He said that he would be back the following day (Wednesday). On Wednesday he arrived with a truck and a chain saw and a ladder (the size of which you might use to paint a ceiling.) I asked why he didn't come with a cherry picker since the limb was about the size of a normal tree. He said his cherry picker was out on another job. I then told him that I wanted him to take down the limb and I would not pay him one cent more. He then said that we had a contract and I was breaking our contract. I reminded him that he was breaking the contract since he did not show up to do the job, and when he did he did not have the equipment to complete the job. He then gave me a new contract for $2500 to complete the job. I unfortunately signed this amended this contract because remember the tree limb was tremendous and I wanted it removed before we came into hurricane season. He again did not do what he had contracted to do. In the mean time he was cutting down bushes. I told him to stop. He now put a rope over one of the auxiliary branches, and it still remains there. What that was for, I do not know. Remember he never produced the equipment needed to remove this large branch. He said he would have to come back the next day with his equipment. Never did he produce a cherry picker. During this time he kept telling me that I broke the contract. I reminded him that he broke the contract since he did not come for 4 days after he said he would. He kept accusing me of hiring another contractor for a lower price. I have not hired, or even talked to another contractor. I Told him that my neighbors told me that that was an exorbitant price, not another contractor. This went on for several days. He never did come with the equipment needed to complete this job. He did cut back a small branch from this limb, but the limb is still broken and is in jeopardy of coming down and causing damage to my home, or cars that might be in the driveway with a sudden gust of wind. He left a tremendous amount of branches on my driveway and back yard. Several days later someone came with the truck, and said he was going to finish the job. I told him he was not to touch any vegetation on my property. Several days latter he came back to remove the branches that had already been cut. Again, he did not have the equipment to do this. One man and a truck could not clean up the mess. He left a mess, and I still had my sons finish the cleanup. I assumed that because I hired him from Angi's List, he was licensed and had insurance. He never did show me these documents. Also on the contract was never an address. The contract looked like anyone could put together with a computer. As I said to the police officer, he was a fraud and elder abuser. I am, live in a nice neighborhood and have a beautiful house. He took advantage of me. He thought I was a little old lady with a lot of money, and not very smart. . I gave him $2500 for a deposit. He did not complete the job, but I want $2000 or more returned to me.

On August 9, 2024, we had part of a tree come down during a storm. We went to Angi and were contacted by Tree Advisory. They came within the hour and gave us a $5000 estimate and required half up front in the form of a check. This check was cashed immediately into his wife s private account. Due to our daughter s wedding the next day and the concern for the tree possibly falling we agreed. They told our neighbors they would be back Monday, but they were not. We contacted him and he kept pushing off when he would come to the next day. On Thursday we contacted him again and were told his climber was in the hospital and they would come tomorrow. At this point all contact came from us to them. They were not updating us, we were asking for information. In addition we later found out they didn t know where to clear the tree debris. He was generally rude and seemed irritated to be asked to do his job. On Friday he didn t show again and I asked for an eta and he said afternoon. By four o clock he still did not show. I asked if he couldn t come today to just return the bulk of the money, and we would find someone else. Finally we called him and he was nowhere near our property. At this point we asked to get our money back and he agreed to both us and our neighbor that he would. It has been several days and the money has still not been returned. We were waiting to post this review hoping to handle this without it, but he is no longer responding. At this point we would like all $2500 back as we have moved on with a different contractor and he completed no work for us. In addition a later estimate for removing the entire tree was not even half of what Tree Advisory quoted us for part of the tree.

Tree Advisory team did an awesome job on our backyard. They were able to completely renew our space in just one day. Clearing heavy foliage and installing plants and a fire pit. The final result looked great. We did have to reschedule the job multiple times and it ended up costing more than my stated budget. The results justified the added but more clear communication on added costs would have been nice.

Tree advisory came to my house prepared to do battle. We had sixty and seventy foot trees that needed to come down. And boy did they bring them down. Faster than I ever thought possible. Their prices were fair and work was outstanding
