"Justyn and his staff at PureLife Welding were very accommodating and professional. My visit to the large modern shop was eye-opening - PureLife can fabricate just about anything made of metal...design, cutting, bending, assembling and of course welding! My job was a relatively minor fix by comparison to the big projects underway, but the employees dropped what they were doing and welded my badly damaged 46" mower deck while I waited...approx. 20 minutes - that's amazing customer service! I was back to mowing the same day! I must also say that the price was very reasonable too! I highly recommend PureLife Welding for any metal work you need!"

"Marco from Art Line Construction reached out within minutes of starting this project on HomeAdvisor. He was extremely courteous and offered to visit the work site the very next day at a time convenient to me. He showed up on the site, quickly assessed the need and even took back the part that he had to prep for the work to be done. He offered up to come back on a sunday and get the work done when i was available. Did the work absolutely fabulous. He is very courteous, freindly and has offered to come back if there is any issues. Good Job Marco, happy to have contracted you! thanks!"

Welding questions, answered by experts

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.

Yes, you can cut plexiglass by hand using a sharp knife or blade (utility knife, box cutter, glass cutter, etc.).

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.
