"Ylber (Jimmy) and his nephew who came to work were both very professional, courteous and honest. I had called them since I had noticed couple of shingles coming off the roof. Jimmy advised that roof needed some repairs as the rubber coverings around the flashings were completely worn out and there were quite a few shingles missing. Also recommended painting the chimney covering rather than replacing the entire cover due to rust which would cost lot of money. Very please with the work and would definitely recommended them to others."

"I am most pleased with the results of my roof, chimney and gutter replacements completed by Skyline. Zack values his customers as he is fully engaged in the home project from start to finish. He explained the project and answered all my questions in a very professional manner. As a senior, Zack was very patient in answering my questions, making sure I understood and clarifying if there were any further questions. Zack has excellent work ethic by keeping me informed via text messages and in-person as the work progressed. Zack was very reliable, his team came on time, did a very good job, and cleaned up the area every day. I would not hesitate to rehire Skyline if I have another home project to complete."

"Mathew from Skyproof Construction is a very hardworking professional who has done an excellent job on replacing the roof on my shed at a fair price and even did a complimentary gutter cleaning after the job was completed. Thank you and the other workers and, I would highly recommend you to others who need work done at their homes. Wayne Palew."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Prevent future skylight issues by conducting regular inspections, ensuring gutters are clean to prevent water pooling, applying protective sealants periodically, and trimming overhanging branches that might cause physical damage to the skylight.

Yes, you can replace a skylight without changing the entire roof—if the roof is in good shape. First, you need to make sure the roof around the skylight is intact and free of damage. Quality installation is crucial to prevent leaks, including replacing the flashing, which seals the skylight to the roof. While replacing the skylight alone is doable, it can make sense to replace both at once to streamline the work, coordinate the warranties, and reduce the risk of future leaks. If you’re unsure, reach out to a professional for help in deciding the best approach.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

Local window and door specialists, glaziers, and roofers should all install skylights. You can also do an internet search to find companies that specialize in skylight installation near you. Keep in mind that skylight installation is very complex and can be dangerous without the proper tools and safety precautions, so we don’t recommend this as a DIY project.

Yes, if you have ventilated skylights, you can install insect screens on them. Insect screens for skylights cost $10 to $50 each, depending on their size and quality. Most pros highly recommend insect screens for ventilated skylights because they keep pests outside of your home while allowing fresh air inside.
