The project work was excellent. We were told our 1000 sq ft patio would take a week and a half, and they finished in 7 work days. Jim had provided us with a CAD design showing the size and shape of the patio, as well as some boulders being placed around the edges. As the project was moving we realized some of the boulders were not in the right place. Adam checked the plan and moved the rocks, no fuss. All the workers were professional and respectful. The machine operator was very good, and willing to move the dirt removed to a different spot on our property where I needed the fill. My wife commented on how nice and professional they acted. The one bump we hit was installing the granite steps from our sliding door. When we were reviewing the project up front, we looked at the door and I mentioned some leaking. When we got to placing the granite the board under the door was rotten. It would have been nice if DW had a person or we had scheduled for a carpenter to make the fix before setting things and quot;for good.and quot; I was able to get someone in while the project worked on other things. It worked out well, but it could have cost a few days if I hadn't been able to get a carpenter asap. The finished patio is exactly what we had imagined. We love it. We will be looking forward to more work with these guys in the future. They exceeded our expectations. We had solicited five paver/patio installers and had quotes from all. The quotes ranged from $6K to $12K and after visiting and viewing previous of his jobs, we selected Distinctive. We replied to all other contractors and placed our order with Distinctive. Timing was somewhat important as we really wanted to have the job completed before July 28 for a scheduled 'Garden Party' with approximately 30 guests. The contractor said he felt they could (and did) comply. Two weeks later, the contractor and crew arrived and began working on excavation of a significant amount of material (our back yard) necessary to provide a solid and well drained base for the pavers. This work revealed that a 50' concrete retaining wall would need to be raised in height by 8" to provide necessary slope for drainage. The height was accomplished by addition of 8" cement blocks being applied to the entire length of wall, being held in place with cement and rebar rod to assure no separation between the original and new work. Then the process of building the base began with the bringing in of 30 yds of base material, spreading in small layers, with mechanical compaction between layers - seems they ran those compactors for four of the six days - always compacting and checking slopes. Finally the fine sand layers, more compacting, drainage checks and then the pavers - more compacting. Lastly, the poly sand was applied - more compacting. We elected to have the sealer applied after a couple of weeks after installation and that will be in August. The finished patio was more than we could have originally imagined! And while the extensive wall rework increased the cost by 7%, we feel the finished project was so much more than what we originally invisioned, it is worth it. As a related project, done in conjunction with the patio was the removal and reconstruction of a fieldstone cellerway which was badly deterioated. The demo was efficiently compled and waste materials hauled away. All being replaced by beautiful granite steps and included a small sump for collection of rain water disposal. And, as promised the contractor repaired the lawn areas disturbed by the heavy machinery and trucks as materials were trucked away and necessary new materials were delivered. In summary, we were/are completely satisfied with the materials and services provided and pleased that his work is guaranteed for five years - most of any contractors contacted.
Adam and the boys spent quality time with our underground oil tank and the piping configured with it. They drained water (a bonus feature we didnâ  t realize can accompany any oil delivery) from the tank and outfitted the girl with new fill lines and oil lines to the tank. It was a...

No guarantee on work. Ledgepack driveway not graded evenly resulting in more puddles than we ever had. Ledgepack was mostly dirt and sand and is all mud when rains.
I'd talked to several other landscape companies. They were all good, but Design Works had another level of knowledge and understanding of what we were looking for. We had a concept photo, and Jim was able to work with us and realize it. The project work was excellent. We were told our...

FAQs for sand and rock delivery projects in Chocorua, NH
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125, ranging between $50 and $200 per cutting, depending on yard size. Other cost factors include the shape of your lawn, accessibility, lawn health, type of grass, length of grass, and frequency of the mowing schedule. The cost to cut your grass will also vary depending on where you live. If your landscaper has to maneuver around obstacles or deal with hard to reach areas and steep slopes, this will likely increase your total mowing costs.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
The cost of a paver patio is $3,800 for a 280-square-foot patio on average. Depending on the patio size, paver material, and design complexity, this cost can range from $2,400 to $7,000 or more.
The size of your patio is a significant factor in the project’s overall cost. If you're building a smaller patio of only 60 square feet, your costs will be closer to $480 to $1,500. If you want a more luxurious 900-square-foot patio, you'll spend closer to $7,200 to $22,500.
