"We hired Nebraska Deck and Stain to stain our deck Mike kept us informed on scheduling, which was wonderful. We knew exactly when they were coming. The crew was fantastic. Took great care to ensure only the deck would be stained. Masked off windows and covered patio below. Friendly and informative. Walked the perimeter of deck to ensure we were pleased. Highly recommend this company"

Small jobs welcome

"Joe was fantastic. He showed up on time and was ready to get to work. Going through the estimate phase, Joe asked great questions that other painters didn't ask to get me to think about how to go about doing the requested job. Little details like how far to paint a particular room that flowed into another room that we weren't painting. I honestly didn't think about that till I was asked. The painting process was great. The paint was put on beautifully. Everything was kept clean and sharp and handled everything with care. I'm looking forward to hiring Joe again for other painting projects."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, termites do not eat Trex or any other composite decking brand. Termites eat cellulose, of which composite decking like Trex contains very little compared to natural wood. This feature can help justify the higher Trex decking costs if you live in an area with abundant termites.

Building a deck is often worth the investment, not only because it provides more utility to your yard and gives you more space to entertain but also because decks tend to add value to your home. Keep in mind that second-story decks often require concrete footings, which means they will bump up your property taxes, while decks built on the first story generally don’t require a permanent foundation and won’t affect your taxes. Even with the tax increase, decks are usually a good investment in the long run.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.

Yes, an elevated deck can increase a home's resale value. Homeowners can expect a 65% return on investment from the cost of a second-story deck installation. For example, if you spend $5,000 to install a second-story deck, that deck will add $3,250 to the value of your home.

Building a deck without a permit could lead to fines for both the homeowner and the contractor. The exact penalties will depend on your state and municipal building laws. You might also be required to remove the deck and apply for a permit before you can build another. While it might be tempting to skip the permit to save a few bucks, it’ll cost you much more if you’re caught.
