Yes, you can paint most wall panels. In fact, many wall panels come unfinished, meaning you can stain or paint them in any color you choose. Unfinished wall panels are usually less expensive than finished panels, although you should consider the time it will take you to finish them yourself when deciding if the monetary savings are worth it. You can save some money on the labor of finishing your panels if you go the DIY route, though.

If your wall panel already has a stain or paint color on it, you can often paint over it as well. You'll just want to make sure you properly treat the area before painting.

You can paint an old wooden fence, but make sure first to do a deep clean (ideally with a pressure washer) and inspect the fence for any existing damage. Painting over dirt and debris will cause your paint to peel. Once you’ve cleaned and repaired any minor issues, use a primer and high-quality satin paint.

Many painters determine prices for home painting jobs using a base rate per square foot. Others use square footage to estimate the amount of paint required and charge a multiple of the material cost, and some may estimate the time required and factor that in. In some cases, painters may simply offer to beat the lowest local quote you've received.

If the exterior walls are not thoroughly cleaned before a paint job, the paint could stick to the grime, creating obvious imperfections along the way. Beyond that, painting over a freshly-cleaned wall just about doubles the lifespan of the paint, from three or four years to seven to ten years. 

The first thing is to consider the main color of your home and determine which colors will complement it. You should place paint samples on your siding and look at them at different times of the day so you can see the way the sun (and shade) affect how they appear. Also note that lighter colors will make your windows look larger, while the opposite is true for darker colors.
