My name is Alyssa and I am an independent contractor who specializes in homecare. I love being a caregiver, and I am EXCEPTIONAL at what I don I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the elderly and the differently abled, even since I was a child. I have been working with special needs individuals, the elderly and vulnerable,  and those with physical disabilities for over ten years. I enjoy my job and take pride in my work, and it is apparent in the quality of care I provide.  I have an Associates Degree in Psychology, a Bachelors in Human Services, and am also a NC Board Certified Human Services Practitioner, with multiple certifications working with special populations. I treat all consumers equally, but I have a special bond with those who have advanced dementia, or who are more noticeably on the spectrum. I am very nurturing with my clients- I strive to include them, uplift them, and empower them,  because so many of these populations are treated like a burden. When someone asks what makes me happy, the answer is, making those around me happy, and my clients have Always been happy with the care I provide them, and so is my mother company, Eldercare. And that is why I am unmatched at what I do- I don't just come to work and wait for it to be over. I enjoy the time I have with my clients,  and because I show it so transparently,  they enjoy the time with me as well. My specialties include, but are not limited to- hospice, dementia, Cerebral Palsy, downs syndrome, feeders, Parkinsons, autism, end of life, errands, bathing, transfers, hoyer lift, intake and casework, etc. Contact me for regular times or for respite care of your loved one. You will be able to relax and take a well-deserved rest from providing care because you will never have to worry about them when I'm around- I treat them like my own family and they will end up "adopting" me. Let's get together!

"James was very prompt and professional. He arrived as promised to review the bathroom and to bid the work. He provided photos of the items that would be used to upfit the bathroom. He completed the job within a few days of us accepting his bid. I cannot say enough good things about this process! In today's world, there are so many contractors that do not keep promises or perform work on time but James is not one of these people. I highly recommend him to others!"

Central Vacuum Cleaners questions, answered by experts

The average cost for central vacuum cleaner repair is $310, though prices can range from $120 to $500. Your total cost will depend on the type of repair needed and the type of central vacuum you own.

A minor motor repair, like lubrication, only costs around $50. However, if you need to replace your motor, you’ll be looking at a much higher price tag with a total of $100 to $500. Other fixes, like electrical work, are charged by the hour, which ranges from $15 to $55 per hour.

Yes, installing a central vacuum system typically adds value to your home. The ease of use, longevity, and superior suction power of a central vacuum system can add up to $2,000 to your home’s value if you decide to sell. Potential buyers may consider the central vacuum a perk to purchasing your home.

While caulking is handy for quite a bit of jobs, it’s still limited. Any crack or gap larger than 1/4 inch is best left for a more intensive repair job. When you hire house painters, they should run a thorough check to see what they need to repair before they start the job.

Large repairs that caulking typically won’t do well with include cracks or holes larger than a 1/4 inch, rotted wood, or metal surfaces, such as garage doors.

Maintaining your central vacuum cleaner is crucial to extending its lifespan. Ensuring the filter is cleaned or changed often is vital to ensuring clogs don’t impact your motor. In addition, inspecting motor brushes regularly and lubricating the engine when needed helps keep it in tip-top shape. Finally, cleaning the central vacuum hose of dirt and debris helps keep clogs at bay, especially if you’ve vacuumed something wet or sticky.

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.
