"All personnel were curtious and professional. They were able adapt to hidden problems in the foundation. They informed me of what they were doing and why. Area was left clean. I would hire them again."

"The contractor was hired to do our project. The craftsmanship is excellent and attention to detail is amazing. They have kept the area clean at all times and very willing to make any necessary or requested changes. My only commplaints would be that there is no communication from them. We call, we text, we email.... but nothing for days, maybe a week. The communication has caused a lot of frustration from this side due to the fact that we are from out of state having this done. The project deadline has been exceeded and we still can not get any information from the builder."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

Finding a reputable contractor for an egress window installation involves researching and vetting potential candidates. Start by searching for local professionals, reading customer reviews, and checking their websites for a portfolio of their work.

Once you have a shortlist, ask the following questions to ensure they are qualified:

• Are you licensed and insured?

• What experience do you have installing egress windows?

• Can you provide references from previous customers?

• Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors?

• What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule?

• How do you handle payment?

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.
