"Mr Squires was hired to repair or replace 3 exterior door thresholds, adjust 1 interior pocket door,adjust or replace 1 exterior door knob and paint 1 8x8 room. Mr Squires began the work but stated that he could not and would not be able to finish the work properly due to a lack of time and skill. Mr. Squires had removed the front door threshold and replaced it with 1 unsupported treated pine 2x4 and approximately 2 cans of great stuff gap foam. The front door of the home was rendered unusable and structurally unsafe/unsound. Door framing at the top of the door was compromised leading to a severe wasp infestation. All aspects of Mr.Squires work was left incomplete and shoddily done. Despite Mr Squires having stated clearly and directly that he was abandoning the project and directing me to secure more competent contractor services to address the above concerns Mr.Squires 2 weeks later late at night left me a series of voicemails demanding immediate payment in full of $900 "without any discussion". My request for a professional bill/reciept and copies of the materials receipt he was charging me prior to payment was taken to be unreasonable and unnecessary by Mr.Squires."

Burden Improvements is a well trusted and qualified home improvement company that can meet needs big or small. Burden Improvements started in the town of Stanley, NC repairing and fully replacing roofs throughout the surrounding area. We accomplished this with little or no money for our customers by going through their home insurance from the recent hail and wind storms in the last year. After this we quickly grew into a bigger office which is located in the heart of Gastonia, NC. We offer other home improvement services such as framing, foundational replacement, sheet rocking, gutters, siding, painting exterior/interior, tree work, porches, and enclosed porches just to name a few. Our skilled labor men are intensely reviewed for quality, experience, knowledge, and proof of insurance. We are fully licensed and insured incorporated company and will provide any documentation at your request. We are also BBB accredited with an A rating. We are CertainTeed Certified Master Shingle layers and regularly take certification classes when available to remain abreast on all codes and procedures. Our employees and contractors are fully trained, insured and certified as well. We do not allow any contractor to complete a job without documented proof of such kind. Most importantly we have made it a goal to have the lowest prices in town and to beat any competitor’s price.

"Came to my home to fix a roof leak. Said he guarantees his work. Long story short, he fixed a few spots on our roof (will fix while I’mup here€) but not the roof leak problem. And to date has not found the leak. So, I still have a leaking roof, a hole in my foyer ceiling, and out a substantial amount of money. My husband requested half of our money back since what he was hired to do was not done. He refused. All he is saying, is he would be glad to put on a new roof (more money) but still do not know that a new roof would fix the leak, as he can’t find where the leak is coming from. We feel a new roof was his intention from the beginning. Please, please do not use this company. Dishonest business! Less"
