When my house was built 6 years ago, the exterior light was not placed well, i.e. it was not correctly attached to the house and it was on the wrong side of the downspout. Roby came out, did the estimate, then did the job. Everybody I dealt with was very helpful and professional. I'd definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had an exterior light moved to a better location on the corner of my house.

We responded to a special offer for Angie's List members to supply and install ultra-quiet bathroom fans, and scheduled with the company to provide two of them. When the electrician came, he did not have the fans with him, and was not aware of the offer. After he determined that the fan would not fit in the downstairs powder room because some conduit was in the way, he got one from Lowes that was loud. He did install the correct one in the upstairs bathroom, and it is nice and quiet. The experience was not great because the information from their office didn't make it to the electrician and he wasn't prepared, but it wasn't his fault that there was an obstruction in the ceiling.
Description of Work: Furnish and install two bathroom ceiling fans after removing the old fans. This was a special offer for Angie's List members.

The office called the morning of the appointment to let me know the appointment time would need adjusting as the technician was running behind. He arrived about 5 minutes after the new appointment time and promptly set to work. After the surge protector was installed, he checked the circuits in the house and the garage. He did find one small problem with the electrical panel, which he went ahead and fixed while there. It was a very quick and efficient service call.

Purchased the Big Deal for the Whole House Surge Protector and Electrical Inspection and I was quite surprised on the quality of service I received after reading all the positive reviews on Angie?s List. I scheduled an 8:00 am appointment and received a call from Gus at about 8:03 stating he was running late and would be there shortly. When he arrived he did not know why he was there and asked ?what are we doing? which left me quite surprised that he did not know why or what he was scheduled to do. To make matters worse, once I explained he was supposed to install a whole house surge protector, he did not bring one and he did not have one in his truck. Gus had to leave and go to a local supplier and purchase a surge protector and installation kit. When he returned, Gus installed the surge protector and I noticed it was a little crooked and not flush to the wall. In addition, Gus cut the access hole too big and the surge protector faceplate could not completely cover the hole. I was quite concerned with this because of the off gases from the garage entering my home through this poor installation. Gus cleaned up and said he was going to his truck to do the paperwork and he left without leaving me a receipt, which is required for the surge protector warranty. So, I had to call the main office and request a receipt and was told they would email a copy immediately. Unfortunately, after a couple of hours, I had to call back and was told they were waiting for Gus to bring his paperwork into the office so they could scan and email me a copy of the work order. ********************************************* Update: It is a rare occurrence when a contractor will take full responsibility for their work and institute measures to correct the issue and ensure they do not reoccur in the future. But, on 08/29/2012, Patrick MacIsaac, GM for Roby Electric went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction by issuing a full refund and repairing my drywall on the surge protector installation. In business, as in life, we only get one opportunity to make a good first impression and although Roby Electric fell short, Patrick MacIsaac is willing to do almost anything to correct that image and win back a customer?s trust. Therefore, based on his actions, I am willing to meet Patrick halfway and change my original grade from a D to a B.

Mike their tech was great. He dove right in as soon as he got here and was able to figure out the dead outlet was due to missing box which was actually covered by the sheet rockers during the build. It was a good thing he did find it because we discovered that the wires were exposed which was a potential fire hazard. Overall, very happy and would call them again.

i needed a ceiling fan and several outdoor lights installed. The electrician was punctual and very informative. I explained what I wanted done and he started right in to work. He had everything completed in 2 hours. Very efficient. He even helped me to move the chandelier that I replaced out to our storage shed. I would highly recommend Roby.

We did not have an outlet in a small closet converted into a sewing room. We asked if we can get an outlet installed within the 2 hour labor coupon that was purchased for $99.00 The tech was able to install a cable from the laundry room next door to the sewing room. The insolated cable in the laundry room is exposed, meaning the cable is routed on the outside of the wall. But that's ok being we only had 2 hours to complete the project. We now have an outlet for $99.00 plus cable. Great job Roby!!!!
Description of Work: We requested inspection of power issue on dish washer. The tech found the switch was off under the sink, our mistake. We then requested an outlet installed in a sewing room. The job was done within a 1.5 hours.

They showed up on time and did a professional job. The fan looks great and has been running fine. They had accidentally wired into a circuit that had a switch on it, but they quickly came back and fixed it.

Great....! It didn't talk him long at all and he made me feel good that there are true professionals out there that truly care. When I asked what I owed, he said oh nothing. This was just and instant check out for some quick re-set problem that was solved in less than 15 minutes. I will certainly recommend Roby/Electric and especially Sean Hogan to all my friends and family...!
Description of Work: I contacted Angie's List for my problem of the laudry room and garage electric lights not coming on. I changed the blubs and nothing. Angie's List suggested Roby/Electric so I called and am so glad I did. I was very pleased with the professionalism and thoroughness of Sean Hogan of Roby/Electric when he diagnosed my problem of the laudry room and garage lights not coming on. There was a refrig in my garage that was connected into the same socket as the extension cord for lawn trimmer cord and when he walked over toward the refrig, he could tell that the refrig was not running. He hit the reset button for the outlet and the problem was instantly solved for the the laudry room and garage lights coming back on.

Everything went fantastic... Justin arrived on time and hung the fan quickly & smoothly. Then he looked at the faulty light switch and replaced it in minutes. He kindly offered to look at other broken things but I had to get back to work. However, I will be sure to call back and have them fix other items in the future. Roby Electric is a great provider and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Roby's estimator met me at my home the same day I called them to arrange an estimate. He called back to schedule the service call that same afternoon. Thomas arrived promptly and was very professional in assessing the job and reviewing his work with me. I could not have asked for a better experience, and the price was excellent.

We needed quite a few different electrical projects completed. Outdoor lighting, outdoor ceiling fans (including mounting box and set up), indoor ceiling fan swap and bathroom exhaust fan swap. The estimate was fair and accurate. Russell was on time, courteous and gave us an accurate, line item estimate so we knew what each project was going to cost. We agreed to all work. The women who called to schedule the work was polite and couteous(she gave me her name, but I do not remember it) and offered several times for me to choose from. I did not have to wait long and they started the work 2 days later. Jacob completed all projects in 2 visits as promised. He was on time and finished before his promised time both trips. He was also polite and courteous. He did excellent work, he was neat and cleaned up when he was finished. Both Russell and Jacob represented Roby Electric in a positive and professional manner and I will continue to now use Roby Electric for all of my home and business electric needs.
Description of Work: 2 outdoor "wet" rated ceiling fans installed "from scratch". Electric power was run from the breaker box to the newly installed mounting boxes. Switches installed. Outdoor utility lighting and switch installed. 2 new outdoor floodlights installed. Indoor ceiling fan swapped out. Bathroom exhaust fan swapped out.

Called Roby electric on Saturday August 4th for service and got there answering service. Gave them my information and did not get a call back on Monday the 6th. I called the office and they had no record of the call. So i gave them my information and they said they would see what they could do about getting a tech out there that day. I did hear from the around noon saying they had a tech on the way out. I meet the tech at our house and showed him what needed to be done. He said no problems that he would need to call and get a few parts to get the work completed. I never heard back from Roby on if the job was completed so I went by the house on Thursday to find out that work was not finished. I called that day and was told that there was mis communication that a tech would be back there Friday to finish the repairs. I went to the house on Friday at 4:30 pm and still no tech. I called Roby again and was told they were trying to get a tech out today and they would call me back. I got a call at 5 pm that they where still working on getting a tech and asked if Saturday would be ok to have a tech there. I said that was fine but would my power be back on then and I was told yes and the tech would call me when they were on the way to my house. Saturday I did not get a call and headed to my house at 9:30 am and the tech was there working on my house. I talked with the tech who I assume was not in a good mood because he had to work on Saturday if this would be repaired today. He said yes and that Roby would call to have the power turned back on. Still Sunday the power has not been turned on and I have called Duke Power myself to get the ball rolling. Roby electric stated they would take 10% off my invoice but taking a week to have something replace is uncalled for. Our house has been up for sale and we lost 3 perspective clients and an Open House that was to happen on Sunday. I do plan on calling Roby first thing Monday to find out what is going on.

I was very impressed with the company's customer service. The technician who initially did the work used a closet light without a bulb cover. When I noted my disappointment in my first Angie's List review of the work, the company manager contacted me and arranged to have another technician come out at no cost to install a replacement light with a bulb cover. I was surprised and impressed, and am very happy with the final result.
Description of Work: Replaced closet light; replaced spotlight bulbs and infrared sensor.

I originally described house for them in detail over the phone, but when they saw the job, they apparently could not do it with the Big Deal I had purchased. They said it was a two guy job, but ended up sending just one guy (and not one of those they said they were sending). The man said the roof was too steep, but for $200 more, they could send an expert roofer to come do the work. I have never heard gage and pitch used in this way. He said he had used a construction square, but I never saw it. It sounds like a bait and switch or they else they just need to be more clear in the Big Deal description I was going to use them for a lot of other jobs, but now I am not going to use them. I am not giving them an "F" because they told me how to get my refund and they had at least offered me an upgrade on the fan.

Hello Member, Thanks for your feedback. Safety is our number one priority when completing any work and our associates take this very seriously. By no means was this intended to be a “bait and switch”. We have installed a great deal of the attic fans without the need of a roofing contractor and we have installed some that did require a roofing contractor. Most times a roofing contractor is not needed. The Big Deal does state that if the roof is above a certain pitch, we need to bring a roofing contractor in to assist with the project. We will make sure that this is more clearly labeled the next time we run this promotion. I am glad you were able to successfully receive the refund through Angie’s List and I am sorry we were not able to complete the install the way you had planned. As for your future projects, we would be happy to assist if you would still be interested in giving us the opportunity to EARN the title “Your Electrician”.
