"Shay's crew installed a new HVAC unit and duct work in our attic. Was previously under the house and was not working efficiently. They were great. They worked cleanly and did a great job."

"Bret Thompson called to arrange a time to come to the house to look at the sight and discuss best practices. He showed up on time, was courteous and professional, discussed the needed repairs Identified and solutions, set up a timely repair appointment with a quote. He told me who would be coming to work the project and when to expect them. His work team showed up on the scheduled day on time and completed the project to our satisfaction. The men were courteous and professional. Mr. Thompson called later to check on our satisfaction and to guarantee the work stating that if we experienced any further leaks after any future rains from the areas that were repaired, he would come back to address those areas without any charge. I'll definitely use them again if and when the need should ever arise."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

An AC inspection costs anywhere from $75 to $200, while a full HVAC system inspection that includes your furnace ranges from $200 to $450. While there's a cost to a home AC inspection, it can save you hundreds or thousands in the long run by catching problems, avoiding breaks, and saving you money on your utility bills.

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

On average, replacing an AC compressor costs between $800 and $2,300, but it could cost as much as $2,800. There are a few factors that impact the price of a compressor replacement, including the type and size of the compressor, as well as the type of HVAC system and local labor rates.

No, for two very important reasons. First, it’s illegal to release refrigerant into the air or ground since it can be toxic and cause environmental damage. Technicians typically pump old or extra refrigerant into separate tanks for special disposal. Second, without professional equipment to read refrigerant pressure and levels, plus the AC’s suggested requirements, it’s impossible to know if you’ve removed the right amount of refrigerant. Stay away from a DIY solution here and seek an expert with the right tools.

You can buy a house with a 15-year-old HVAC system if you inspect the system for performance and budget for a replacement within the next three years. You can also negotiate the price with the sellers. Ask to look at the unit’s maintenance records and energy bills for the last two years to determine the shape of the HVAC system and its operating costs. Spend time in each room of the house to gauge if the HVAC keeps the home at a consistent temperature throughout.
