Contractor went to purchase the boots and sealant and returned to roof to replace.  Took new pictures and showed them to me.  Unfortunately approximately 4 months later we noticed 1 of the boots had popped loose.  I was then disappointed due to the sealant he used or the way it was applied.  The other boots needed resealed as well to be held in place.  I put this same review on Angie's List awhile back but it never took and put it in the system.

"I liked the roofer?s professionalism and the quality of his work. He came and fixed the problem even though we never told him exactly what we needed. He knew about the problem based on his assessment of the roof. He knew what needed to be done and didn?t try to replace the whole roof. His service guy didn?t necessarily see what the issue was and ultimately the owner of the company came out about 30 minutes later. So the owner knew exactly what needed to be done based on his experience and addressed those issues. He was prompt and we would definitely use his services in the future too."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

An improperly installed skylight could potentially impact your roof's warranty. This happens because roofing penetration is necessary during skylight installation. Check your warranty information to verify. In most cases, having skylights professionally installed with proof that flashing is being done to specifications can be enough to preserve your roof's warranty.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

The most popular treatment for a skylight is skylight shades. There are five primary types: manual, motorized, blackout, cellular//honeycomb, and Venetian. Motorized skylight shades are the most convenient, especially for skylights that are higher up, but manual shades are the most cost-effective treatments. Cellular/honeycomb shades are a perfect option for anyone who wants energy efficiency and an attractive look.

Yes, if you have ventilated skylights, you can install insect screens on them. Insect screens for skylights cost $10 to $50 each, depending on their size and quality. Most pros highly recommend insect screens for ventilated skylights because they keep pests outside of your home while allowing fresh air inside.
