"So glad I decided to have Star Garnet Co. tear down and reroof my house. They did a great job! The communication from start to finish was very good. Wyatt is very professional, knowledgeable, and polite. He and Jacob worked hard to get the job done. Highly recommended!"

"We had the Schluter system installed in May and the tile installed shortly after. Both Candace and Derrick provided lots of information - were both very professional and gracious. Beautiful job on our new shower. Highly recommend!"

"Dave from All American Custom Builders responded immediately to my email request for a bid, then was at my house the next day to price the 4 projects and started and completed the job the following day. I have had 2 other contractors bid these small projects at hundreds to 1,000 more. He repaired my sliding door without replacing it, saving me lots. I knew it didn't need replaced but the others insisted it would need replaced. He also repaired plumbing line into my mud room sink and another in master bath shower. Other "contractors" said they would need to crawl under the house to the water shut off increasing the time needed and of course the price. Dave repaired and replaced nozzle both water lines in half the time and saved me about half of the other's bids. He also fixed bathroom drawers. So trying 4 total contractors and waiting 6 months on family and friends, I've finally found my contractor/builder! He's professional, quick and fair priced. Contractors and construction people can charge outrageous prices and take months to complete jobs in this valley so I am reluctant to write a good review. Kinda wanted to keep this contractor available for me and my family and friends. ☺"

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

"Choosing The Tile Guy to remodel my bathroom was a great choice. Free Estimates and were avalibe the same day to come take measurements. Very quick to send out a bid. Reasonable with prices. They show up on time and work in a very timely manner. Always clean up after a days work. My bathroom looks amazing. Large walk in tile shower, tile floor, ceiling and walls. Start to finish the remodel took only 5 days. Amazing work and looks great! I will recommend them to everyone!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.
