Blackmore Property Services is a locally owned and operated landscaping and property services company based right here in Bozeman, MT. I’m Bodin, the founder — I started this business because I saw a gap in reliable, professional outdoor services done by someone who actually cares about the quality of their work and their reputation in the community.\n\nWe specialize in landscape rock installation, debris hauling, junk removal, property cleanup, and ongoing property maintenance. Whether you need a full rock bed renovation, a seasonal cleanup, or a dependable maintenance partner, we show up on time, communicate clearly, and leave your property looking better than we found it.\n\nOur crew is small by design — that means you’re always getting experienced hands on the job, not whoever’s available that week. We’re fully insured with general liability and workers’ compensation coverage, so you can hire with confidence.

Thank you for taking a look at my page and services! I have lived in the Gallatin Valley, Bozeman, MT, for 30 years this May 2026. I began my carpentry journey as a 17 year old in 1989. I have worked my way up from a laborer, to foreman, to being a superintendent for years, and ultimately, becoming the owner of Hogan Design. I started Hogan Design in March 2018 with the hopes of bringing a seamless, honest, clean, hard working, on schedule, construction service for my clients. Being a superintendent for years, I have seen the good and the bad of contracting and managing jobs. I saw a lack of honest work, job cleanliness, and an ability to follow a schedule. I understand that the homeowner wants the work done as quickly and professionally as possible, so they can enjoy their space. Being a competent contractor and completing on schedule is paramount to myself and to you. I have a very thorough knowledge of the process. I'd love the chance to work with you!

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, many providers offer organic or eco-friendly treatments. Confirm availability with your contractor.

Yes, rock gardens do need water. That said, they typically require less regular watering and, instead, more occasional, deep watering since the rocks trap moisture for longer than mulch. Make sure you don’t water your rock garden too much during the winter.

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

Finding a reputable greenhouse or nursery should start online, where you can read through customer reviews to gauge the quality of the plants sold and the customer experience. Look out for customers complaining about plants dying shortly after purchase, and try to choose a greenhouse known for hiring employees who are able to explain how to care for the plants you purchase. It’s also a good idea to head to a few greenhouses to see the selection they offer and make sure they carry the plants or trees you’re looking for.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.
