"Everything was great. Melissa arrived on time, was friendly and professional, and got right on it. I walked her through the house which was a bit too messy in places; she went to work on a bathroom while I put away some clutter. Well, she worked around the stuff I hadn’t gotten to, dusting under items and wiping them off. In the end she even hand washed the few dishes in the sink, folded some clothes laying on a bench, bonus! I really appreciate how easy the entire process was from booking a day before to paying."

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, if your home is poorly maintained and has weeds and overgrowth, it can affect your home appraisal and lower the value. Home buyers want to see a well-kept home, and if yours lacks curb appeal whether inundated by weeds or not, you could be neglecting the potential for it to reach its full value.

A spot herbicide for weed control is effective at killing crabgrass and not grass, but it depends on the type of herbicide. Always check the label to ensure that your herbicide is safe for grass but tough on crabgrass. Overall, spot treatment is ideal because it puts fewer herbicides into the soil, which can damage the soil. If you’re wanting a natural remedy to crabgrass that also won’t harm surrounding grass, you can also hand-remove crabgrass or even pour boiling water or 5% vinegar over crabgrass as a spot treatment.

Crabgrass is very resilient, and homemade solutions like vinegar may not be strong enough. Typically, hand-weeding is the most effective option that doesn’t involve harmful chemicals. You can use corn-meal gluten as a natural pre-emergent herbicide, but it’s not as effective as chemical weed killers.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.

Clover lawns stand up better against dog and cat urine than traditional turfgrass. If your pets love to hang out on the lawn on a sunny day—or if you find yourself with a lot of visiting neighborhood dogs—you could save yourself from yellow and brown patches by making the switch to a clover lawn.
