"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"Chris did an excellent job pressure washing the exterior and deck of our home. Unlike others we've used in the past, Renew Exteriors actually uses Bleach (or other) when cleaning--I smelled it--which is necessary for proper cleaning of mildew and other. Their service was timely, professional, and at a fair price. We will definitely refer Renew Exteriors to our friends & neighbors, and use them again in the future."

"I had a great experience with this gutter company. From the start, Ethan was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain the options and the process so I understood exactly what was being done. Ethan and his helper was respectful, professional, and showed up when they said they would. The quality of the work was excellent. They paid attention to the details, cleaned up after the job, and made sure everything was working properly before leaving. It?s clear they take pride in their work. If you?re looking for a reliable company that does quality work and treats customers with respect, I would definitely recommend them."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally considered safe to use a leaf blower to clear debris from gutters as long as you are wearing safety goggles and gloves. It's also necessary to have a gutter extension tool. In cases of severe clogs, it's necessary to manually clear debris that cannot be removed by the pressure of the leaf blower. Homeowners should be aware that the incredible power and speed of the output of a leaf blower can blow debris into downspouts. When this happens, water won't be able to flow through the gutters properly. For this reason, many homeowners hire professional gutter cleaners.

Yes, it is okay to knock down icicles yourself. Just make sure to take the proper safety precautions. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, contact a roofing professional.

Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, to remove the debris from trees that can clog the eavestroughs and downspouts. Debris like leaves, twigs, and seed pods can build up and cause your gutters to overflow, potentially causing damage to your roof and foundation. Water backing up under the shingles can rot the edge of your roofline. Overflow water falling next to your foundation can end up leaking into your basement or crawl space.

It’s recommended that you clean your gutters after a severe storm, however, regular storms don’t raise the same concerns. Look for signs your gutter might need cleaning after a harsh storm. Do you see broken branches and excessive leaves all over your yard? Chances are your gutters caught quite some debris. Also, ensure a few drying days before cleaning your gutters. Dry debris is much easier to clean.

Shingle granules can be cleaned out of gutters using a small scoop or a hose, depending on the quantity of granules and how much other debris is in your gutters. First, clear your gutters of leaves and other debris. This may remove granules in the gutters if they are mixed in with the debris. Use a plastic scoop to remove larger quantities of granules or a hose with a high-powered nozzle for smaller amounts, and collect and dispose of the granules once they’ve been removed.
