"A&S seal coated an approx 4400 foot private street in our HOA. There is only one entrance/exit so during the process we had to get cars in and out, they accomplished this very well.Their workmanship was excellent. The whole process started on the right foot: they contacted us immediately and showed up for estimate/bid right on time. This unfortunately is rare in this area. Started on the day they promised and finished on time. A&S did a marvelous job keeping the seal coat off the concrete driveways. The proof will be in how long the seal coat holds up, hopefully close to 5 or more years. Bottom line: A&S was responsive, responsible and did what they said they would. I am more than satisfied with the job they did for us."

"The guys came out to look at the job and give me a quote. I got the quote, but apparently it didn’t cover the whole scope of the work. There were add-Ons that I thought would’ve been included in the original fees. I don’t know about asphalt work, but I do know quality work, and I felt it was lacking. The guys did communicate with me and tried to work with me and the project. In all fairness, my driveway was is disrepair and it does look better."

"Due to the wet spring weather the planned start date slipped a little but then I had to move it because of business travel. Once they got started, everything went great. They graded and leveled the old gravel driveway that had washed due to the heavy spring rains. Then applied 2 layers of chip seal and the new driveway looks great. I was originally planning to just have it graded and re-graveled but after talking with Jerome, decided it would be worth the extra cost to do the chip seal and it was.
Jerome, Ollie and the rest of the crew were very professional and polite.

"I hired Precision Asphalt & sealcoating for asphalt install and Sealcoating. Josh gave me a fair price and assured me he would start the job once he was done with his current job. At every instance he did what he said he would do at the time he said he would do it, as well as keeping me informed along the way. Very professional, respectful, and would definitely hire him again."

"Everything seems fine so far. Thought they would wash the driveway first, but just blew it off before work, so if you have a dirty oily driveway, you might want to clean it first. They were very quick to respond and got the job done quickly. Friendly service and attentive to detail on filling cracks before resurfacing. Little high on the price but they did quality work. Thank You"

Driveway Sealcoating FAQs, answered by experts

You shouldn’t directly paint over an oil stain on your asphalt driveway. While painting over might visually conceal the stain, the oil will continue to damage the driveway. Once you’ve noticed the oil stain, it’s important to thoroughly remove it within the next few months since oil stains only take six months before they begin to damage the structure of your asphalt driveway.

DIY asphalt repair is feasible for small issues like cracks or potholes, provided you have the correct materials and tools. However, for more extensive damage or to ensure a durable, smooth surface and prevent further deterioration, engaging professional services is recommended for their expertise and long-lasting results.

When asphalt cures, it typically changes from a very dark black hue to a lighter, more matte gray color. Cured asphalt also won’t be tacky or sticky to the touch or emit any odors from the asphalt mix. Additionally, the surface of fully cured asphalt won’t deform under any pressure.

Since freeze-thaw cycles throughout the winter months can damage your driveway, it's best to winterize your driveway in the late fall before the first freeze hits. Doing so will help to protect your driveway from damage throughout the winter season. Plus, drier, warmer weather makes applying and curing sealant much easier.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.
