"We were out of town when our furnace quit on a cold December Sunday. I called Steve and within a couple of hours, he had our furnace up and running. We highly recommend Steve for any furnace or AC needs, he will bring a peace of mind to any stressful HVAC situation with his knowledgeable, professional service. Thank you again!!"

"Excellent service, very fast response to my request for service, picked up laptop, diagnosed issues. Initially thought it was an OS update issue but the hard drive had failed along with other components (including 'CPU). Because other components were involved, a new solid state hard drive was put into a laptop with a working processor - same type CPU as in the failed unit. The laptop was repaired and returned in less than a week. This company picked up and dropped off the laptop (driving from Huntsville, AL (about 60-70 minutes)-- great service in this covid environment. I would recommend this company to my family./friends and will use again."

"Hired the Comfort Company to install a new propane high efficiency furnace, air source heat pump and take out my old nasty oil tank. Very satisfied and my wallet took a smaller hit than I thought it would! Highly recommend!"

"About an hour after calling Kaduce Plumbing and Heating, the service person arrived and promptly set about replacing our recirculating pump on our hot water heat furnace. He did a great job, and we had heat in about 30 minutes after he arrived. The service man even questioned why I had throttled down one of our heat lines by about 70%. That line goes to our upstairs and with an open stairway, the heat goes upstairs so we need less heat up there. Even throttled down, our upstairs stays about 10-15 degrees warmer than the ground floor. The service man did an excellent job of cleaning up after himself, so it's neater around the furnace than when he arrived."

"Technician is personable, friendly. He is very knowledgeable and has corrected several issues that were not originally constructed in an efficient manner. He is open to answer questions about the new and more efficient system. Will be calling on him again for further repairs to HVac System in the future. Highly recommend."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While both have advantages, a split system is generally cheaper than a ducted one. Because they are less invasive to install, the labor costs are lower, and they can be more energy efficient. But, a ducted system might be worth the investment if you run it more frequently.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.

If you’re planning an AC replacement, choosing an AC with a higher SEER rating may save you money in the long run. Tax credits could cover as much as 30% of the job, and you’ll notice smaller utility bills (particularly if you live in a hot climate where you need to constantly run the AC). Generally, you can expect to pay between $350 and $1,500 for each SEER rating increase. Weigh the cost against your typical utility bill to figure out what’s worth it to you.

The cost to add Freon to an AC ranges from $100 to $350. It can increase up to $600 for large AC units requiring much more coolant. The cost also depends on how much refrigerant your unit needs. If only a small amount of Freon leaked out, your cost would be on the lower side. A complete replacement of all the required refrigerant can get expensive.

Yes, HVAC zoning is generally considered worth the investment by both experts and homeowners. Zoned systems offer significant benefits in convenience, efficiency, and comfort by allowing you to set different temperatures for various rooms or 'zones' in your house. This ability to heat and cool only the spaces you're using leads to energy savings and lower utility bills. Zoned systems are especially effective in multi-level homes that experience temperature fluctuations, but even smaller homes can benefit from the ability to adjust temperatures more quickly. While the up-front installation cost can be high, many find it's a worthwhile long-term investment, particularly for those who plan to stay in their home for a while.
