"In Spring 2012, we obtained quotes from three companies to tear out two existing retaining walls along the driveway and re-build them using Versalok, excavate and grade the backyard, and build a 3.5 - 4 foot retaining wall in the backyard using the stone from the old retaining walls. Genadek had the middle quote; they were also the only company to follow up with a phone call. The whole job took about 4 1/2 weeks. Stan, Mike, Tim,  Rob and Andrew were very professional and friendly; our neighbors even raved about them. They cleaned up the job site at the end of each day and communicated frequently so there were no surprises.
My only recommendation to those interested in hiring Genadek is to get on their schedule early. Their calendar books up fast!

"This was the second time I worked with Greg. It had gone so well the first time that I called him when I wanted a 14 x 20 building put on the back of my lot. He impressed me again with his creative solutions to some of the problems I was having, both with build and placement. He stayed in my budget and got it done in a reasonable amount of time. Definitely will call him again for the next project!"

"Removal of a large fuel oil tank. NO excavation was needed. The two guys who came were friendly, courteous, and very good. They came in looked at what had to be done and went right to work. A job I thought would take hours only took about 1 1/2 hours. Sadly because I have such a tight space they had to cut the tank in 1/3rds. So, if they can get a fuel oil tank out of my little basement, they can get it out of anyone's. Cleaned up after themselves and removed old tank, pipes in wall and pumped the left over oil out. Very happy with them. Would highly recommend them to everyone. Now waiting for my new furnace."

"Due to many surprises and issues that arose, this project should have gone sideways ! It did not . Craig's skill and expertise in flooring with his ability to come up with a quality solution for major floor imperfection hidden by carpeting and an additional layer of tile, it got completed without busting our budget.  Swept and organized every night  so we could get around in the construction zone"

"Scheduling the work with Integrity was easy as they were very accommodating to my schedule.  The roofers did a good job of installing the roof and the quality of the work appears to be good.  We have had rain since the roof was installed and have had no leaks.  The subcontractor that did the fascia came out ahead of time and matched the color of the fascia so everything matched after the job was done.  The size of my sky lights are no longer made but Integrity called the company that made the sky lights and had them custom make the size again.  This saved a log of work and expense around replacing the sky lights.  The person we worked with was David and he was very accommodating and pleasant to work with."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Depending on the severity of the freeze and the method used, thawing frozen underground pipes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Applying heat directly to the pipe using heat tape, infrared lamps, or hot water jetting can speed up the process. However, patience and careful monitoring are key to avoiding pipe damage.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.

The digging depth will depend on the size of the trencher you use. Even smaller units can dig up to 4 feet deep, which is plenty for a DIY job. However, much larger trenchers can reach a depth of 18 feet and are better used by a team of pro contractors, not a single DIYer. As with all home improvement projects, use the right tool for the job and proceed with caution.

The easier way to find buried sprinkler lines is to use the plan from the professionals who installed the system. If you don’t have professional plans, listen for running water on your lawn when you turn on the system. You may also spot wet areas, giving you an idea of where the heads are. Once you find the sprinkler heads, you’ll likely be able to connect the dots between them, revealing the system below.

No, fire blight does not survive free in the soil but instead is carried through insects, animals, rain, or wind during the spring. Keep in mind that it can also spread on tools, which is why you should always disinfect them in between cuts.
