When working with a contractor, you want to work with someone that does quality work and then stands behind their work. That is exactly what I experienced with Dan’s Custom Brickwork this year. We’ve worked with Dan’s Custom Brickwork for work on both our home and for the walls for our homeowner’s association due to the quality of the work. This was the reason that we selected Dan’s again to have some work done on the wing wall of our garage. While repairing the tuckpointing on the wing wall, the crew inadvertently nicked the wiring for the light that sits on the top of the wing wall which caused the light not to work. I notified Deborah, the Dan’s Custom Brickwork Office Manager, about the issue of the light not working and she worked with Dan, the owner of Dan’s Custom Brickwork, to get Dan out to assess what had happened, When Dan saw that his crew was responsible for nicking the wiring during the tuckpointing process he sent his crew out to take the portion of the wall to allow for rewiring of the light, at no cost to me. After the electrician rewired the light, Dan’s crew came back out and rebuilt the wall, again at no cost to me. Based on both the quality of the work by Dan’s Custom Brickwork and the integrity of the owner, Dan, I would highly recommend Dan’s Custom Brickwork as the contractor of choice for brickwork. Knowing that a contractor will stand behind their work and be there to ensure complete customer satisfaction is the hallmark of Dan’s Custom Brickwork.

We just used DCB for the second time in two years. The first project was our front porch. The second project was a retaining wall on the side of the house. Both jobs were done extremely professionally. We are usually people who do lots of research before committing to a design. In both cases we ended up going with Dan’s recommendations. Not only did he give us great advice on the optical design but also on the engineering/structural benefits. We really appreciate his knowledge and patience. Overall, we were very happy with his crew and the attention to detail that they showed. Pricing is very fair. We are planning on using DCB for future projects.

Contacted Dan and he responded back that day. The next day, he came out to give an estimate and we signed the contract. The week after, his crew efficiently repaired the masonry work on our front porch patio. He was very responsive, gave great advice and we are very satisfied with the work.

They were extremely unresponsive to phone calls . First attempt to repair with mortar match was obvious from the street. Too DARK. We were told to wait a year to get correct color. Never got close. Called again numerous times the next year. From the start of this project to finally getting them out 18months later the supposed redo of the mortar was worse than the first time!! It is even darker than the first time and looks horrible against our existing light grey mortar on our house.Now we have lost even more time and it will end up costing us twice as much to have someone else repair it. We have plenty of documentation and pictures. We would not recommend to anyone.

Although we had to wait a lot longer than expected for the work to be done, once it was our turn, the work was done expertly and promptly. We asked them to come back to re-polish the stone which they did without any issue. I highly recommend this company for any brick or stonework you may have for your historic home. I have passed Dan's company name along to our local HDC.

They did a good job, but something was kind of left out. I don't know if it was not mentioned, or I don't know how it got left out, but part of the cement work was left out. What they did was excellent. I wasn't pleased with the part that got left off, but there was some cement missing off my front porch. They charged me $800. They had good service. They came when they said they were coming. They went and got their supplies. The guy was very good and everything. It was just that part that was left off and I didn't really realize until they were gone. I never heard more from them. I didn't get back with them. I was just disappointed with that part, is all. I think they should have gotten back with me about some feedback about what they did, but I never heard from them. The price, I think, was a bit high. I guess masonry work is expensive, but to me, it was a little over-priced. I might use them again, but we would have to negotiate better with the price if I ever used them again.

They were very courteous and professional. Work area always cleaned. In fact, they took the time to clean and re-use existing brick so bay window would retain aged look and flavor of older home, which also saved cost of new brick. They made sure to match the color of the windows caulking.

The crew was on time every day - cleaned up at the end of each day and the job finished on time, on budget. What more can you ask for? The work done is perfect.

They did a great job at an excellent price. Every other company I called for an estimate wanted to tear down the entire chimney. Dan was the only one who explained why it wasn't necessary and did the repairs at a fraction of the cost. The work was excellent. I highly recommend them.

Great! The two-person crew was punctual, did very good work, ended up replacing even more bricks without charging extra, and cleaned up after themselves. Very happy with the workmanship and professionalism.

They have been excellent so far. They are doing a great job and are out early and stay until late day/early evening. In two weeks they have done so much and should be finished shortly. Dan and his crew have been beyond outstanding so far. We were hesitant to spend so much with some recent experiences with less than responsive contractors. It is refreshing to know that the brick work is being done so professionally at a reasonable price and that they can be trusted.

As far as the work goes they were really good, they had to reschedule a couple of times. So they weren’t really prompt. We would recommend them, they weren’t the cheapest, they were probably in the middle as far as price but their work was really good.

I had a few questions about the work and was able to speak with Dan the next day. He assured me that the mortar would match better as it dried and that the bricks he replaced were the closest match since ours were discontinued some time ago. He addressed my concerns and sent a crew back to take care of a few things that were "missed".

The day the work was done 2 men came together, got started and 1 man did the actual tuckpointing. He worked hard and consistently. Some days after, someone came and cleaned up the brick after the new mortar had dried. I was impressed with how well they cleaned up the work area. The tuck pointing looks great and I am a very pleased customer. This is my first experience having any brick work done so I don't have any comparison to make with a previous company or cost of a project. The reason I evaluated the cost of the job as N/A instead of giving it a letter grade is that I have nothing to compare it with. I did not get other estimates because Dan's Custom Brickwork came recommended to me and I valued the person's evaluation of the work done for him.
They are scheduled to do a small cement job around a drain in my driveway and I am confident that my next experience will be as good as my first.
