Scott was amazing. He was very diligent and kept all his commitments and timelines. He only takes one job at a time and came every day til the job was completed. The finished results were just fantastic. Would recommend Scott and Cherry Building to anyone who wants quality work done in budget and on time.

We hired Scott to do a complete remodel of our kitchen. Our house is about 65 years old, and I'm pretty sure that the kitchen design had not been changed in that entire time. In that old design, there were some idiosyncrasies about the existing heating, plumbing, and electrical, and there was one big design problem -- a weight-bearing post in the middle of the kitchen area. Scott came up with a design that solved those problems, including an ingenious solution for the post, and he did a terrific job executing that design. He always kept his promises, communicated very well, and was forthright and transparent about everything. His attention to detail was impressive, and his work was of the highest quality. I would not hesitate to recommend Scott to anyone or to hire him again.

Scott was amazing. This was my first ever remodel of any kind, and he made the whole process very easy. He met with me to see what my needs were, he drew up a plan and gave me a quote, then when I decided to hire him, he gave me a "homework" sheet of finishes I needed to pick out and when to have them by, and he was in touch with me throughout the entire process. He gave me a start date, and he showed up on time and put in a full days work on that day and every day after until the job was done. He gave me an estimated project timeline of 4-6 weeks, and my kitchen was complete in 5 weeks. He only takes on one job at a time, so you know he is giving your project his undivided attention. The quality of work he does is excellent, too. He treats your project as if it were in his own home, so he really takes his time to make sure that everything is level, fits the way it is supposed to, and is functioning the way it is supposed to. No short cuts. He is trustworthy, on time, hard working, and he communicates with you and keeps you up to date throughout the entire project. He even checks in with you after the project is finished to make sure everything is up to your standard. I got several quotes, and his prices were comparable to all of them. I would highly recommend Cherry Building Company to anyone who is in need of a Kitchen or Bathroom remodel. When we are ready to do our bathrooms, I know who I am going to call!

Our bathroom was recently completed by Scott and we had the same experience so many others have described. He always let us know what was happening, made suggestions regarding the job and made great efforts to do the job right. He’s quick to respond, easy to talk to and very friendly. He was respectful of our home and our time. We did our own measuring for the tile and our mistake was not talking to Scott ahead of ordering. We assumed tile was needed for the full floor area and as it turned out...tile was not installed under the vanity. Also, there was a window that needed to be replaced in that bathroom. Scott worked seamlessly with the other contractor. There were some up-charges, but he was very fair with the pricing. In fact, there were some “down-charges” because some items we picked out were under the allowance. Several days after he completed the job, we called him with a few questions. He stopped by, addressed all of our questions and then noticed that HE wasn’t happy with the grout job on one of our shower tiles. He mixed up some more grout and took care of it. That’s pretty impressive.

It is a pleasure to write this review. We interviewed 3 designers and chose Scott Purdom because he is a contractor/designer. We had definite ideas of what we wanted. He listened, created designs, and offered options to take us out of our “box”, and we are so grateful to him for doing that. He is meticulous and very conscientious. He arrived every day at 9, took 1/2 hour for lunch and left at 5 or 6. The kitchen was always left clean at the close of the day. Scott is a very pleasant person to work with. We never had an issue leaving him alone in the house. His assistant, Dave Aikin, is also very pleasant to work with. While Scott was on vacation, he called to check on an item. We were very impressed. There is no doubt in our minds that Scott would be the perfect person for your kitchen or bathroom renovation.

Scott was AMAZING to work with. He helped us re-design our kitchen to improve flow, and to make it brighter. He was not the cheapest, but he was in the mid-range of the quotes we received. I believe you get what you pay for - although we had some unexpected costs come up, they were due to issues hiding behind the walls (and ceilings), not because of Scott. The finishes and small details, along with all the "big things", were diligently attended to by Scott. He treated our home the same way he would his own. He was here every day, and our job was the only one he worked on at the time, which ensured he paid attention to us, and he was who we were dealing with at all times. We are looking to do a bathroom in the future, and I won't even shop around - I'm hiring Scott. I trust him to be in my house alone, and I trust him to do the work the right away every time.

Really great. Everything went very smoothly even though we had a few discovery issues to deal with. There were a few up charges for that but Scott was very fair. Overall everything looks beautiful. Planning on using Cherry Building Company again for my main bathroom next year.

From the first meeting with Scott, the whole experience was great. He listened to what we wanted, made suggestions and never hesitated to ask questions along the way to make sure things were done the way we wanted. He started the job when he said he would and was extremely reliable on a daily basis. The quality of work, from wall removal to drywall/painting, cabinet/backsplash install and finishing work was superb. Work area was cleaned up every day, and the mess was kept to a minimum. All in all, we will keep his number handy for future remodels and would not hesitate to recommend him to friends for their kitchen/bath/basement remodels!

Scott was very professional, worked well with our schedule (and was great with our dog and baby!), and I can't say enough good things about our experience with him. I changed the scope of work a few days in on him, which caused him to have to redo a small amount, and he did not complain at all nor did he charge extra. I once even locked him out of my house by accident and he was totally cool about it.
During the early part of work we allowed Scott and his employee (Dave) in our home by themselves for several days while I was at work and my wife and baby were travelling. Not once was I concerned about not being there with them. They took care of the house, locked up when they left, and I was completely comfortable with their integrity.
Our bedroom and bathroom are not enormous spaces, but Scott managed to keep the place as clean as could be expected even with a very dirty demolition phase. We were very pleased about that.
He probably is not the cheapest around but his prices are competitive, and quite frankly when doing a remodel I didn't want the cheapest guy around, because you get what you pay for. Don't misinterpret this - he was not priced higher than the expected range. I'm just saying he wasn't at the low end of the range....nor should he be at the low end of the range given the quality of his work and his experience.
The only thing that could have gone better was the quote. The quote came in and was not entirely accurate with respect to the work to be performed (e.g. had replacement of an exhaust fan when there was no exhaust fan and was missing demolition of the soffit in the shower) and was not itemized. I did not ask for an itemized quote but it would have been nice to see it. The work itself was itemized just not the pricing. Other than this, I can't think of a single thing I would have wished went better.

Scott did an excellent job! It was a huge job and he was very precise with every detail offering advice and suggestions along the way. He is a perfectionist and everything was done perfectly.....if not....he fixed it. Scott and anyone he hired to help finish the job were not only professional but extremely friendly and helpful. This was our first remodel so I was very nervous but quickly felt at ease once the job was started. Would use Scott again in a heartbeat!! Everything turned out beautiful!

Scott and his sidekick Dave did a great job. Always on time. They cleaned up at the end of each day. Work progressed as promised. I had no issues with the progress or quality of the work he did.
I got 3 estimates for the job. Scott was not the cheapest. I decided to go with Scott based on my face-to face meeting with him and also his review's on A.L.. I made the right choice.

The entire project went very well, and we are very happy with both the process and the outcome. We would highly recommend Cherry Building and its owner, Scott Purdom.
Scott was on site all day, every day. He started the project when he said he would, and although it took longer than he predicted, he kept us apprised of the timing throughout. He and an assistant did much of the work, and he brought in sub-contractors as needed: for electrical, drywall, tile, & wood flooring. He cleaned up daily and was very pleasant to have in the house.
This was not a cookie-cutter project -- our kitchen/family room combo had an odd layout that we wanted to modify, and Scott worked with us to come up with solutions, including moving a short staircase for better flow. The layout is great now and the kitchen has a much better set-up for cooking.
Scott also did an excellent job on subtle details. We were very picky and had an almost-daily list of questions, and he was responsive to problems throughout. He addressed any concerns as we went along, and he came back after completion to fix a couple of small issues. The final result is a beautiful AND workable kitchen and family room.
I gave a B grade for price only because the total cost was a little more than we'd hoped, but it was in line with other quotes. Otherwise, Scott deserves straight A's.

Cherry Building is a small company so it was a bit of a wait before Scott could begin. We actually got several bids from qualified contractors but this was a big job and we wanted to feel comfortable that it would be done right. Scott was very accommodating and he put us at ease. So we didn't mind waiting for Scott to finish his other projects before he began ours. Scott didn't have the lowest bid but everything we wanted was included and there were no surprises at the end of the project. We actually added a couple of things and he was very reasonable in what he charged. Having said all that, the project took 7 weeks from start to finish.
The job went very well. Scott and Dave cleaned up every night and removed all waste without having a dumpster parked in our driveway. Even though we were without a kitchen, the rest of the house stayed relatively clean and free from dust and debris. Every little detail was tended to. All along, they treated the job like it was in their own home.
I have to say that at the end we were more than ready to use our new kitchen and laundry. It was a long road but the end result was well worth the wait. We could not be happier and we hope to have Scott and Dave remodel our bathrooms in the future.
One last note, I asked Scott if he could help me move a large and heavy pantry cabinet down to the basement. He said sure. When I came home the next day, they had already moved it, having had to disassemble it to get it down the stairs and then reassembled it in the basement. Like I said, just like it was their home.

We are about a year behind on writing this review, but would definitely recommend Scott for remodeling work. He spent about 4-5 weeks gutting and remodeling our kitchen. Scott was very professional and trustworthy, and we felt safe leaving him alone in our home. He helped us through our decision making process and was very upfront and informative about the building process with regular schedule updates on who would be in our home and when. He was very responsive to questions. He was very reliable on schedule and the area was as clean as possible at the end of each work day. He also was able to point us to his contacts at various vendors which helped us take advantage of sales. Our kitchen came out beautifully, and we enjoy it every day.

Hire Scott to remodel your kitchen!
We are incredibly satisfied with the work Scott did for us and would definitely hire him again. After meeting with us to talk about our wants and needs and to see the space, he provided a detailed proposal that exceeded our expectations. He had great ideas about how to work with the space. Scott recommended good products and was willing to work with our choices, and always left the decisions up to us without pressuring us to make decisions one way or the other. His original quote was accurate in the end and he was very detailed in documenting what he charged (and credited) for services and materials. We only paid extra for things that were out of his control (like a rotting subfloor) or for materials that ended up being more expensive than he guessed they might be (which was entirely our choice). He is incredibly professional and does extremely high quality work, with the kind of attention to detail that makes the difference between a nice kitchen and a gorgeous custom kitchen. It took about 6 weeks for a complete remodel that ended up doubling the kitchen in size, which included gutting everything we had, tearing down and rebuilding a free-standing wall, removing some radiant heat registers and installing new ones, lots of electrical work and installation of new lights, installation of new cabinets, countertops, subfloor, floor tile, backsplash, crown molding and trim, and appliances. Everything turned out as beautifully as I hoped it would. I would HIGHLY recommend hiring him, I know I?ll be calling him again when it?s time to remodel our bathrooms!

The job went very well, mostly because Scott really knows what he is doing and he communicated very closely and clearly with me throughout the project. An unavoidable delay in progress occurred when the sink topper I wanted went on backorder, but Scott worked to find an alternative solution to the problem. I'm picky and he worked with me to get things right. Very professional service.

We did a complete kitchen remodel with the exception that most kitchen appliances were not replaced. Scott Purdom of Cherry Building was excellent, and my wife and I were very comfortable discussing design ideas with him. Scott was very professional and helped us with some of the decisions about the design. After a few weeks of discussing the layout, visiting various stores to look at materials and cabinets, a contract was completed.
The existing kitchen cabinets were removed and new upgraded ones were installed. Two layers of existing vinyl flooring and underlayment were removed. Scott also removed the existing kitchen wallpaper.
A Pergo wood laminate floor was installed that began a the front entry, extended down the hall to the kitchen and throughout the eat-in kitchen. Formica counter tops were replaced with Corian composite countertops including a Corian sink. The kitchen layout was changed slightly, the dishwasher was moved to the outside wall next to the sink from a peninsula location. The kitchen stove was shifted about 10 inches from the corner to make room for a lazy susan. There was soffit in the kitchen where there was no cabinets so that was removed and the ceiling drywalled. New soffit was installed where the new cabinets extended along the wall.
Much of the drywall at the countertop level was removed to install new wiring. New GFI outlets, switches with dimmers and under cabinet lighting was installed. Scott primed and painted the entire kitchen after the dry wall was complete. After the new countertops were installed, Scott installed tile with strips of accent tiles. New kitchen lighting fixtures were installed. New pipes, drains, shutoff valves, a new kitchen faucet and new garbage disposal were installed. A new microwave was installed above the stove to allow more free countertop space. A new toilet and Allure floor was installed in the powder room.
Scott Purdom did an excellent job. The kitchen rehab took a little longer than quoted, partly because there were a couple unexpected problems along the way and there was a delay with the electrical contractor. Scott is very detailed and does the work the way you would do it for yourself. Scott also has a helper that assisted him part of the time, and an electrical contractor, but he does much of the work himself. We were very pleased and would definitely hire him again.

We got a few quotes for our bathroom remodel. Two contractors, including Scott, gave us the same price (around $30k), and another contractor quoted us about $15k. While the $15k quote was tempting, we decided to hire Cherry Building to do the job. I just felt way more comfortable with his references and his professional style. I'm glad we did.
My husband and I are very pleased with the work that Scott from Cherry Building did. There were a few snags along the way, but Scott was very responsive and responsible in getting them ironed out. The bathroom is beautiful, and we really enjoy using it!
