BPG Home Inspection

I had BPG inspector dennis holder come inspect my house for a pre home inspection. He missed a structural issue that I noticed after 1 day of moving into the house. After calling the claims department to see if they could do anything for us they gave us the run around for a month, came and re-inspected the house and then said it was "normal amount of settling". We have cracks in the walls, floors that are dipping, and a sagging beam that I now have to replace all because of something that should have been caught by a trained inspector. what is the point of hiring a company that isn't going to catch such issues and then hang you out to dry when they missed it?

I hired Bruce Shively of BPG Inspection to inspect a home for purchase that had been vacant for over 2.5 years. Bruce was exceptionally detailed in his evaluation noting moisture readings in the home and potential expensive fixes that need to be done. Bruce, together with two other inspection services I hired - HVAC and plumbing (you cannot be too careful when buying a home) together noted the pipe on the furnace in the basement was at the wrong pitch and needed correction by boring a new hole in the chimney (not an easy job or cheap) plus other areas of concern .. moisture. Bruce's report served as a guide for updating, replacing and fixing all the things in the house that needed to be done. 10 months after purchasing the home I noticed more moisture in the house and asked Bruce if he would recheck it and offer suggestions. I know this is out of the ordinary, but then so is Bruce -- very profession, soft spoken, knowledgeable, and willing to help as he is able within his "pay grade" and expertise. I highly recommend Bruce Shively for a home inspection any day. Schedule an appointment with Bruce, you will be glad you did (he didn't pay me to write this. He's just THE BEST).

Tom came on time to do the inspection with all of his tools and supplies.  He was very thorough in the home inspection and knowing we were first time home buyers, he gave us tips and techniques to keep our home well maintained.  Tom also went above and beyond and checked the inside of the attic which actually revealed some work that needed to be done to make the house a safe living space.  We would request Tom to inspect our next home and would recommend him to anyone who would want to just gain insight into the workings of their home.  His detailed observations and pictures are a great resource.

He has saved us a lot of money by finding needed repairs in real estate transactions before they become our problem.  I cannot recommend him enough.  He is the best inspector in metro Detroit.

Rick Bowling was terrific!  He arrived early (but not too early) and quickly went to work inspecting the outside of the home.  As he moved about, he eagerly explained any potential problem areas with suggested remedies.  He has a unique ability to explain things clearly and prioritize any issues according to level of concern.  He is incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and professional.  Rick thoroughly evaluated the entire house including the roof and attic spaces.  We received a report by email in less than 24 hrs.  The report was incredibly well organized and thorough; containing numerous pictures of any areas of concern.  Rick even supplied a detailed builders construction guide as a reference to assist us in fixing a deck issue.  I could go on and on.  In short, we truly felt as though Rick treated us the same way he would have treated one of his family members; and that piece of mind is invaluable when considering a major purchase such as a house. Bob Bowling is a very enthusiastic and energetic individual.  Right from the first time we met him, he did not waste any time in starting the job.  Prior to meeting in person, I was able to talk to him personally to get an idea of his services and what the job entailed.  Upon meeting for the inspection, he was extremely friendly and ready to start.  We are first time home buyers, so had very little knowledge as to what we need to pay attention to.  He gave us a step by step tour of all the details of the house and also along the way gave us tips on maintenance and upkeep of the house and surrounding lawn.  Lastly, he emailed us a 45 page pdf report with all his findings and multiple pictures to refer back to, which was awesome.Overall, we had a wonderful experience.  He was very thorough and detailed.  At the end, we felt very comfortable with all the information he provided.  We would def use him again in the future or recommend him to our family members.
