Pod was scheduled for an AM delivery in the metro Detroit area for me to unload on 7/17. Spent two hours tonight talking to various Packrat employees trying to find out where my pod was and why it wasn’t delivered. Received no courtesy call. This is after the pick up driver in fort Myers picked it up a week late because it was “blocked” on the scheduled day and no one contacted me. The lack of communication is horrible and try to get assistance is rediculous. I had movers scheduled had to reschedule them once and now have to do it again because packrat cannot deliver the pod on time

I contracted to have a container delivered to my home, we would load, it would be shipped across the country and delivered/unloaded by them. No one delivered a container, or told me it was not available, until after the delivery time had passed and I called four times. Then, I had to pay out of pocket for an unaffiliated container to come to my house, load it, drive it to Pack Rat's warehouse, unload and reload into a new container. Now, I called to give them the final destination address and they can't find my account or our belongings. They sure didn't have a problem taking the payment. Now no one will even call us back. I have no idea how this will end up, but it looks like we'll be buying new stuff and suing them.

The move went smoother than I could believe.
-The salesman got me discounts when I asked and extras I didn't expect, and worked with the coordination personnel to answer questions
-The moving coordination staff provided moving hints and kept track of the constantly changing dates for the move; the people who bought my house and their bank couldn't get it together and the dates kept changing. Without charge, PackRat would change the dates. I wish the moving coordinators were better empowered to deal with something besides schedules; however, the facilities managers at both ends of my move more than picked up the slack.
-The facilities managers stayed in contact with me; kept me informed as to pick up and drop offs; and, even when they had problems of their own (their trucks broke down) kept me in the loop, apologized and didn't charge me for their problems. Even with all that, they were able to deliver my containers within an acceptable time range and worked extra hours to make it happen.
-The delivery personnel were friendly, pleasant, willing and ABLE to answer questions, and when they promised pick up and delivery they made it happen.
-The price is expensive, but any cross country move is expensive. PackRat cost was comparable to using traditional movers (I got estimates) and was better than their major competitor. I have not listed a cost because it will always vary depending on distance and container size/number.
-I had experience with their major competitor a year ago and PackRat was a big improvement in cost, flexibility (they will allow limited pro rating of storage fees) and attitude on the phone and in person.
