Our furnace wasn’t working. It’s only 5 years old. We called them and they came out 3 times…..never fixed our furnace. They charged us $3,100 of which we paid $1700. We refused to pay them at the 3rd visit because they claimed that it was the thermostat which wasn’t working. Why does it take 3 visits of 3-5 hours per visit to work on a thermostat? When I spoke with Dana, the manager, the next day he stated that Lucas, the tech, had to call tech support to get help with putting in a new thermostat. They took down our thermostat which had been working for 5 years with no issues. They put in a new thermostat, but they didn’t know how to get it to work. Dana was very angry when I told him we would not pay for the 3rd visit. He started yelling at me. I couldn’t believe it. I told him not to come back. Bad, bad customer service and they are a bunch of idiots. DO NOT HIRE THEM!

Do you have a blocked pipe and need a plumber to come out and fix it fast and give you a fair rate? Let me tell you all about who not to call! My pipe for poop from my house to the street was dislodged by the city and clogged. I became tired of raw sewage in my utility sink and called the company with a good BBB review. They quoted me about 600$ which seemed reasonable. The lovely young fella came out and tried to bash it out with brute force and managed to break his tools. He then broke my old iron pipe putting the thing back together. The footage they provided of the blockage was useless because of the broken equipment but they gave me a jacked up quote anyways: 2000$ more than their competitors. They charged me for the equipment the fella broke. They charged me 1300 and did not provide me with a shred of useful information, they broke the bottom of my stack, charged me 800$, they installed a leaky replacement they grudgingly came back to fix.

Absolutely terrible company, fraudulent activity with billing and never provided the services. This company charged to have a technician come to my home to provide a quote, but never provided the quote. Upon trying to follow up, they never responded. Upon escalation to the Operations Manager, he was incredibly belligerent and abrasive about their fees, and said that they are primarily an "emergency service provider" -- so perhaps my quote slipped through the cracks, but that I still owed the charge they imposed. He provided no apologies for the mishap, no offer to find the quote and send it to me, and firmly stated that he would not provide a credit for the charge. I asked him politely several times to do the right thing by providing the credit, since I received nothing, not even the quote. Instead, he reiterated their charges, and indicated that I was lucky that they didn't charge me even more. This kind of unprofessionalism and frankly fraudulent charges from a service company is absolutely unbelievable! Do NOT use this company!

I called several plumbers in my area. Richard P Waltz answered and told me that their plumbers were all scheduled for the remainder of the working day, but could send one after 5 PM, though I would have to pay overtime. I agreed. But one of their plumbers finished up a call early and they sent him to me around 4 PM. He quickly diagnosed the problem as the rubber washer in the valve failing, due to age. With the help of the building property manager I got the water main to my area shut off and the plumber opened up the valve and replaced the washer, which broke apart as he took it out - he was absolutely right in his diagnosis. When I had the building water turned back on we found that I still had a leak from the faucet, but now we could shut off the water and the plumber found that the faucet itself had seals that had failed. But at that point I could do the work myself, so thanked him and he left. He'd spent only about 1/2 hour, and I paid the regular rate. Great service, excellent knowledge.

They charged a MINIMUM of $95 just to come and "diagnose" a problem, even though their trucks have "free estimates" printed on them.

Was a very tough job as the pipe was in a very tight spot. She had to call for additional pieces to be delivered. The job took approximately 5 hours. The only reason I'm giving it an overall B was the cost. Be warned that if the job runs past 4:30 you are charged an overtime rate. I unfortunately was told about 1/2 hour before she would get into Overtime and it was a job that had to be done since we only have one bathroom in our house. They also charge you from the time they leave the warehouse. Their prices are higher for labor than others. So if price is no big deal to you, I highly recommend. However, if price matters, I wouldn't recommend.

Three weeks later, I smelled gas and had the gas company come out and verified it was a gas leak. Unitil red tagged the appliance and said the gas pipe was hooked up improperly. Luckily, the gas leak did not cause harm to my family. I called Richard P Waltz plumbing back and said it needed to be fixed, especially after being charged $300 to have it installed. I said I'd prefer to have someone new come out and fix it because the original plumber, Lee, hooked it improperly. They said it had to be him to come back and fix it because it was done under his license. Fine. They also stated they were going to verify that it was their mistake otherwise it'd be another chargeable call. I said it was your mistake, as verified by the gas company but they continued to say they'd verify that their selves and would be out tomorrow morning. Well, they never called or showed so Lee the plumber called the following morning saying he'd come that day but he knew it was the venting. He then explained he didn't know why my house had a vent on the wall, when it should be in the floor, and he'd come back with new materials and if it still wasn't solved, I'd have to get my floor dug up. (meanwhile my vent is not on my wall but in my floor and what does a vent have to do with a pipe leaking gas??). So the next morning, no one called or showed up again.

Eventually, the operations manager call me to say Lee was on the way (6 hours late) but it'd be a chargeable call. I reminded the manager, the tag specifically said it was hooked up improperly, who then told me it was because their company does not like using the equipment the dryer comes with. I wish they had told me that PRIOR to finishing the job in the first place. Anyway, I continued to say it's the pipe not the vent but the operations manager, Dana, continued to talk over me and continue to use the term "vent" like I didn't know what I was talking about. I said, no I am not being charged another $300 to have you fix your mistake when I know it's the pipe that was installed improperly. He said fine and hung up. 20 minutes later he calls again and says they will not charge me for service but for the new parts for the vent which will be $80 dollars. I said fine but once again, what does this have to do with the pipe leaking gas? Ignored once more.

Lee shows up and says he'll need to collect $80 for me and he will fix the vent. I write a check and he continues to fix the vent. I point to the red tag on the dryer and say, "if it was the vent, why did unitil check off "piping" not "venting". Lee responds and say "they just put the tag wherever is convenient for them". He continues to re-do my entire vent with his materials. I feel uneasy about this because I know he will leave and I will be left with the same problem, gas leaking from the pipe attached to the back of my dryer so I call Richard P. Waltz dispatch and simply as, "is there a difference between the vent and the pipe?" They verify there is and say they will call Lee to follow up. Lee then storms down the stairs and snaps, "so what is your problem now? If you have a problem, you come upstairs...not call the office". I go into the laundry and point to the pipe to the back of the dryer and say the leak is coming from the connection at the dryer from the PIPE." Lee snaps, "why didn't you tell me this in the first place?". Seeing as how I've mentioned this to him and Dana and the rest of the company multiple times and it's written CLEARLY on the red tag, I'm surprised a plumber (who said he's done this for 20 years ) didn't know a gas leak comes from the pipe). Needless to say, he found the leak and left without saying a word to me or collecting any money.

Was a bit mad that they didn't take the old pump with them and left it on the floor and that I had wash down the doors that they touched too remove the black grime from their hands.

On the price, they were reasonable, they weren't high, they weren't low. They came out to fix something and weren't able to fix it. Then we got a bill anyhow because they were here. They were very responsive. He was here on time. The time he was here before that he was very good. So this was just a bad visit.

After a few weeks of contemplating, my wife and I hired them to do the job. We signed the contract and gave them a down payment of over $3,000. At that time, we were told by their office secretary that we would be contacted within the next day to schedule our work. A week later, nobody had called. I called and left a message and an email to them before getting a response. The project manager was completely rude and unprofessional, acting like he had been working diligently at getting our shower done. He was annoyed at the fact that I called him and emailed him asking for an estimated start date. I almost went bananas when he accused me of being sarcastic. Well, I tend to get a little antsy when I write a check for thousands of dollars and nobody calls me. If I wanted to be treated like that, I'd start writing checks to my ex wife again. I demanded my money back. He said it might take a few days. I let him know that our check was cashed the day we dropped it off and expected a refund the same day I requested it. I got what I wanted.

I called first thing in the morning since the clog happened the night before. The scheduler was very pleasant and sent someone out within 45 minutes. When the plumber arrived, he put covers on his shoes so as not to dirty the floors, which is always impressive. He diagnosed the problem and said he'd need to snake it with the electric snake. He also had to cut into the pipe under the sink since there was no nearby trap. He was very professional and courteous, explaining what he was doing and then, after writing up the bill, explaining the charges. I would definitely use them again, but hopefully won't need them for any more clogged drains!

richard p waltz was actually my 3rd choice plumber, but only based on google results. the sewer pipe in my basement backed up on a saturday, and forced an old degraded plug out .. and the contents of the pipe. the first plumber i called talked me down on the phone a bit, and said he didn't want to charge me the $130/hr emergency rate since it sounded like it would probably require jackhammering. we scheduled an appointment for 7:30 am, with a courtesy call at 7. long story short, the plumber bailed on me. after calling a second company, i was told they were fully booked for 3 more days.
when i called richard p waltz plumbing and heating, the operator said someone would call me before they left the yard, and 5 minutes later i had confirmation. jay was very professional, funny, and didn't talk down to me like many men in the industry do. he explained what he was doing, and why, and talked me through how i could fix the issue myself in the future. basically the house trap was clogged so the 5 hours my buddy spent snaking the pipe didn't really come close to reaching the problem. he flushed the trap, and then went back to the beginning of the line and flushed from there, freeing an incredible amount of nastiness and pushing it down the line.
after cleaning up the mess and reassuring me that it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, jay noted some other companies [that shall not be named] might have stopped with just the trap clean-out, leaving the potential for reclogging once the sludge in the line moved along.
excellent work, very reasonable price, friendly, tidy. what else can you ask for in a plumber?

They put a 6ft extension. They are very professional, their customer service is great, but their pricing was very expensive. Everybody I told how much I paid looked at me like I had 2 heads. They charge from the moment they leave the building, they charge you for the traveling, which is not good.
