We were redesigning and remodeling our home which included the fireplace. Old Port Specialty Tile was recommended to us by our contractor for our needs. The service was great and the choice of tiles were sufficient. Our very first choice unfortunately was back ordered and we were unable to get our first choice.
Katy worked with us and helped design our fireplace. She thinks outside the box and is very creative. We ended up with another choice and we were happy with Katy's assistance. Unfortunately, we were short 4 tiles at the very end of the project and Katy had to order them from CA. Okay, I clearly understand that "stuff" happens during a home remodeling project so let's get that out in the open.
When I told Katy that we were short 4 tiles (after her calculations and model) she advised me that she'd have to order the tiles from CA. The timeframe that we were looking at was over a week and if I wanted expedited shipping it was going to be quite costly. The mantle was ready to go up and the wood stove inserted. Time was ticking.
My only disappointment with this firm was that they did not think INSIDE the box when it came to shipping and the urgency of the customer's project. Why not offer priority mail? Why not pick up the cost considering it was she who drew up the design and ordered the required tiles? The end of this project and the handling of the shipping of 4 measly tiles put a sour taste in my mouth. It's nothing major, I know. It was the principle. When we spend close to $1,000.00 on tiles for our fireplace, why not pick up the cost for 4 tiles that we were short? Why not offer to at least use priority mail shipping?
In the end, our contractor paid (well, I suppose we really did in the very end! ha ). It's the little things that go a long way.
The tiles were great and the service was okay. I do recommend this company but if you go, make sure that you have sufficient tiles for your project. As it turns out, we don't have any extras!
