From the initial estimate for the work to the finished job, it was an excellent experience. The workers were professional and courteous. They were a joy to have at the house. They went to extremes to make sure the house was protected before stripping the roof. The promptness in completing the job was incredible. The quality of the work was A++. I would highly recommend J & J Roofing. We were completely satisfied with a job well done?

Roofer was supposed to fix some leaks around chimney on first visit. We paid him on the spot and then several months later when we were up in the attic, we noticed that there were still leaks. We contacted his office again and left a message. It took many phone calls for him to call back and he stated that he wouldn't forget about us. He did "forget" and never came out before the winter set in. When the weather warmed up in the spring, we contacted his office again and left a message. We called many times over several weeks before we finally got him to return our call (this after we mentioned Angie's List). He said he'd need to come out and look at it...when he finally did, he admitted that he should have come back after the first repair to ensure that the sealant had held, which it hadn't. He said he would come out when someone was home and re-do it at no charge. We waited and waited, through weeks of good weather when he could have come out to repair it, but he didn't. At this point, we're fed up with his lack of responsiveness and his apparent lack of truthfulness. It seems that we were getting the round around the whole time.

Snow Removal
This was a bad ice year so it took Mike 2 days to make it out after they were called but that is to be expected. They shoveled the roof, chopped some drains through the ice dams and then cleaned up some of the areas of walkways they shoveled ice into. They were polite, professional and concerned for the integrity of the roof and their work. They did not use CaCl to break up the ice dam as it was melting fast. I appreciate that as it lessens damage to plants around the foundation. It took 2 men about 1 1/4 hours to do the part of the roof I couldn't reach with the roof rake. Considering the cost of liability insurance these days I consider the price to be fair. 3/04/2011 The ice dam never completely melted so they were called back several times for someone to stop by and clean the rest of the ice off the edge so I could roof rake. The ice berm prevented me from getting the last storm's snow off of the roof so off course it started melting and backing up again. Today I was told they were here for 15 min while I was at work. They cleaned off about 6" from the very edge of the roof and left a 2" high by about maybe 6" wide ice berm with bigger and deeper spots??? So after all the aggravation of calling several times and their time,effort and energy to come out, they still left me so I can't roof rake and with the impending rain and snow this weekend it will probably accumulate again. I'm down grading them and would now say I wouldn't call them again.

Contracted with J & J to do entire roof with work to start within 2 weeks. Paid deposit for purchase of materials- several weeks passed with no contact. Over the next 4 months called repeatedly and was told repeatedly that they would start the job within a few days. Finally began legal process, with notarized letter requesting return of funds. Instead of refunding the deposit J & J instead dropped materials off on our lawn, with no receipt to show cost of materials matched funds provided. Terrminated relationship with J & J and hired another roofer who did a good job in short order.

This was the rudest and most unprofessional person that has ever come to our condos for any reason. I was appalled.

"WHEN A ROOF IS AS OLD AS THIS ROOF WAS, YOU NEVER WALK ON THE ROOF BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE POTENTIAL LEAKS. THIS WOMAN SAID THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT PROPERLY WAS TO PUT A LADDER UP AND GET ON THE ROOF. I'VE BEEN DOING ROOFING ESTIMATES FOR 30 YEARS AND THIS IS THE MOST UNINFORMED PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. BY ALLOWING (DEMANDING) THAT PEOPLE GET ON HER ROOF SHE UNFORTUNATELY WAS ASKING FOR TROUBLE. SECONDLY, WE DO NOT DO HOME INSPECTIONS. IF YOU NEED AN ESTIMATE WE ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO GIVE YOU A FREE ONE. FURTHERMORE, I NEVER SAID TO HELL WITH YOU. I SIMPLY SAID IF THAT WAS THE WAY SHE OPERATED I WASN'T INTERESTED IN THE JOB. SHE HAD ALREADY STATED THAT SHE HAD 5 OR 6 OTHERS WHO HAD BEEN ON THE ROOF. I ASSUMED WITH THAT MANY ESTIMATES SHE WAS ALL SET. WE ARE SORRY THAT SHE MISUNDERSTOOD MY DISINTEREST IN THIS PARTICULAR ESTIMATE. I HAVE DONE MANY ROOFS AND HAVE COME TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THERE WILL PROBABLY BE POTENTIAL CONFLICTS WITH CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS. WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR PROFESSIONALISM AND HOPE THAT THIS REVIEW WILL NOT HINDER OTHERS FROM CONTACTING US."

EXCELLENT!! The crew led by Lou arrived on time and were the best. They were professional and courteous, extremely hard workers, and worked well as a team. It was a simple job (the house is a cape with no valleys or dormers) but the temps during their two work days were in excess of ninety degrees with high humidity. Horrible working conditions but they were amazing. Stayed on task and kept a positive attitude throughout. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to replace their roof.
