Darrell Cooper

Darrell Cooper prepared a quotation of work for us and recommended Rick Higgins to be the contractor for this work. He reassured us that Rick had done a lot of other weatherization work for him and that all his clients were happy. Unfortunately our project turned into the project from h***! Rick HIggins failed to do the work as contracted. He had his girlfriend and her brother working on our project which in and of itself might not necessarily be bad, but in this case it was clear that neither of them were experienced in this type of work. The work he did do used inferior products and workmanship despite us calling him on it (basically, we brought in special equipment to determine that he had used the wrong equipment to do the work, and that the work he did do was not done correctly. Rick Higgins then lied about other portions of the job as well using inferior products, not even completing the work as agreed, and leaving behind a major mess inside and out!. He never returned to complete the work as contracted (even in an inferior way)) even though Darrel assured us that Rick was reliable and that Darrell would talk to him and get him to come back . The owner of Energy Audits Unlmtd , Paul Button and Darrell Cooper,Mgr at Energy Audits reassured us that Rick was a reliable and hardworking man! Hah! What a joke! Rick Higgins actually moved out of town before our project was complete! Turns out that Darrell Cooper/his wife had actually hired Rick Higgins to work for them at their investment property in Blue Hill while he was working on our job! No wonder why he did not come back and complete the job. Rick didn't respond to the Better Business Bureau nor the State Attorney General! Darrell then assured me that it was no use trying to take him to court since a recent divorce wiped Rick out- how Convenient for them all! In retrospect it seems like a convenient arrangement between the three of them. Shame on us for trusting any of them - Rick Higgins the 'contractor', Darrell Cooper the manager, and Paul Button, owner of the audit company. I think that they took our thousands and are laughing about it to this day. It's no surprise contractors don't want to be licensed in the state of Maine - they would no longer be able to get away with ripping people off like this! I keep think about it...Darrell even assured me that it was no use trying to take him to court since a recent divorce wiped Rick out-Convenient! Worst is I continue to send my heat $ to big oil.
